You said in your original post you're trying to get an education in photography and intend to eventually go into photojournalism or other professional photography. The majority of the advice you received can be summed up to say: "You probably don't need a watermark. However, if you choose to use one keep it classy and professional". If you're going with your last name you have also apparently decided to listen to that advice. I'm not really sure why you asked for feedback, got useful feedback, applied that feedback, and are now complaining about that feedback.

I'm not complaining about the feedback, I was just talking about people saying I sounded obnoxious or like a knob, or any other just negative shots. A simple,"Mo that wouldnt be a great idea." would have sufficed. Rather than "you sound like a knob"

Anyway, the nun image came from a GIS of "dirty nun cartoon," but seeing as it's someone else's work, it wouldn't be the greatest thing for a real watermark.

The story of that name came from when I was in high school. I had a reputation as a...promiscuous boy...a "man-whore" if you will. A few friends and I went on a trip my senior year and saw a small group of nuns. My friend Jake said to my other friend, Jesse, "So, would you...ya know?"

Everyone was giggling and after going around the group he asked me, my answer was, "Well, if she was willing, who am I to deny a woman of the cloth" So they laughed and spouted the dumbass, young kid nonsense, "oooooooh Greg would hump a nun!!!" And I said,"Damn right I'd hump a nun."

And that became my user name from then on. But apparently I offended quite a few people on here so I changed it. Didnt want to, but I don't feel like making a bunch of enemies this early in the game.

Yeah, when I realized I messed up, it said I had to wait six months to fix it. Talk about feeling dumb...but in six months, seeing the support I had for the old name I think I'll go back to it. Fuck it

Agreed. Take pride in the enemies you make and th people you offend. Anyone whos offended by iHumpNuns is nobody you need to be concerned with placating.

I think the new name is more offensive than the old one. Being a hitch-hiking murderer is definitely worse than having sex with a nun. The nun may want the sex, after-all...

Your last name is Killer? Or is it Backseat?

I generally watermark most of my images that I put on my website. I don't think this will at all deter theft (which has happened a few times), but I'm at least given them the chance to not crop it out and give me a shred of credit. They don't have to take much away from the viewing of a photo online if you are subtle about it.

Plus, if you watermark it and register it with the copyright office and they crop out your watermark and use it? Slam dunk cash money.

Have you seen some of the OTHER avatars on this forum? We have Wacko, Bugs, Marylin Manson, Garfield, Mona Lisa, some blonde cartoon character with a drill, etc. The list goes on. I doubt that you will need any permission from the artist/production company to use that sexy nun.

The watermarking was done automatically on export through Lightroom, so it is not even something I have to think about doing.

But I agree with everyone else... that name was dumb.
