ONTARIO, Canada (CNN/CTV Network) — More than 1,000 teens crowded into mansion under construction in Ontario.

They trashed the place Saturday night before police broke up the party.

It had all the makings of a party at a nightclub: the crowd, the music, the drinks. But this chaotic scene actually came from a family home in Brampton — a 5,000-square-foot mansion under construction open for one epic house party that spiraled out of control.

“There was just kids coming in packs of 10, 20 — literally no room to walk in the house,” said a neighbor.

The house was crammed with more than 1,500 people — the party so big that it began to trend on Twitter.

At the end of the newscast they said they were unsure of whether or not the homeowner and/or her son would be charged. What would they have been charged for if people broke into their mansion and threw a party?

That is what I was going to say... I'm glad somebody else caught this, I thought I missed something in the article.

I read this somewhere else, and it said that the homeowner's kid threw the party himself. Police warned his mother about the exposure on social media but she decided to let it happen anyway.

Secretly I've always wanted to do shit like this, but you have to prevent people from breaking literally everything they see. Old mine or bunker would be perfect.

Am I supposed to be shocked about this? Teenagers trashing a house because they are drunk or high is not news to me. In fact, it's olds and happens everyday. Why is this even being reported?

There were over 1500 kids there, and the police dispatched 60 cop cars. That does NOT happen every day, dillhole.

So the scale of it makes it a big deal? Just feeding the attention-starved brats exactly what they want. Ignored.

The problem is once a party has about more than 15 - 20 people shit starts getting broken, fights happen, it becomes a mess at your average party. My friend held a party at his house in town and about 50 people ended up showing up - a window got smashed dishes got broken, a fight broke out, cops got called - made it into the papers, on the local and semi provincial news tv. Now we've gone back to 15-20 people we know real well max and everything stays mature and cool.

And some Febreze, that place is gonna stink. This whole thing reminds me of a similar event, a bunch of ravers broke into a castle and threw a rave in it, by the time the cops got there no one was around.

That would be such a good party...what could be more fun than an abandoned building and a party! Despite the fact of the place getting trashed and causing $70k worth of damage, that would be a great party. Reminds me of the movie Project X with all of those kids there.
Not sure why they had to break everything though...must be the alcohol.

The sheer number that showed up makes this pretty damn epic. Too bad they're was so much destruction. Biggest party I was ever at had maybe 30 people.....at the most.

It states in the article that the homeowner and her son could face charges...it's their home, not some vacant/abandoned mansion.
