Not very long ago I found another one again, these old homes that have just enough left behind that you can still feel the shadow of those who lived. Even though it was mostly cleaned out I found there were still just enough traces left in the dust to put together the story. Charles lived here. According to his DD-214 he retired from the Air Force shortly after Viet Nam was abandoned as a lost cause. He than went into the US Postal Service and served a full career and earned a second retirement without taking a single sick day. Not surprising as the Postal Service has preferred hiring practices for retired veterans. Not a single sick day. Year after year they kept giving him those Special Achievement Awards as recognition for not missing a single day of scheduled work. So many of those awards were piled up and just left there. Funny the things people conceder not worth saving. When he died on October 23rd his family sent him out to Jasper GA for burial and than started the task of cleaning out his house. How do you decide what is important enough to save and what goes in the trash? What gets donated to the Goodwill, mailed to some distant relatives or just left behind on the floor? Charles's house is boarded up now but it is still not up for sale. Sometimes it gets opened up but is quickly closed again. Congratulations and respect to you Charles, you served faithfully, selflessly, and without falter. I only hope you lived long enough to enjoy your earned golden years.

Wonderful set! Such an intimate glimpse into the lives of two long-gone people. And what a cute house.

Wonderful! The Clothes and the awards are such a cool find. Thanks for sharing!

Also, great commentary and information... Houses are always places that make me go "hmmmm", just as you have portrayed! Why was this thing left while others were taken, etc etc.

Swiss cheese. I can't believe that worked.

Also, excellent set man. Glad I could be there.
