I visited Panama recently and saw this place while kayaking. Took the quad out and explored.

While shooting the place, I heard an aggressive dog barking (not something you want to hear alone in the jungle) Turned around and saw a guy with a machete and holding back a rottweiler (not something you want to see alone in the jungle)

Needless to say, after much talking, we was cool and told me about the place.
It was a fishing resort that collapsed during the great recession. He lives near by and heard the quad motor and thought it was thieves. They are known to come steal from the place.

I can only imagine turning around to see a local with a machete and rotty staring at me... That sinking feeling in your stomach that you are about to experience a real life horror flick in the middle of the jungle in a foreign country. Damn those hostel movies!

That being said, way to get out there and explore... What a cool find.

So, I see you DID find something to see in Panama. Nice work (even if things were a little tense for a moment...)

Punchy, There were more forgotten places than expected. I came across a couple more, but didn't have my camera. After asking around, it turns out the US economy downturn in '08 really affected the world.
I was surprised to find out the some of the places were (relatively) new. Apparently the jungle wants its land back!

So now I gues Drakkar Noir is the official mens' fragrance of UER! I'll go a grab some for $40 a bottle!
