Brindle Service Reservoir, UK

Last time I visited here I didn't have a tripod and ended up not being able to get any decent shots so as I was sat on the M6 going no with the turn off less than a mile away I decided to break up the trip up

There isn't any history knocking about but since the other reservoir down the road was demolished this is now the last remaining victorian service reservoir in Lancashire, there are not many of these brick vaulted reservoirs left in the country with most that are left being in or around Landan.

Love the shots & the find mate!

#2 you could tilt just a bit to even it out.. Looks like you have enough room to crop it without getting into the arches.. Maybe on a return trip try it again & move just a little to the right.. the way the arches are.. they lead your eye to the left & down a bit.. It's REALLY hard getting shots like that down.. have to play with them a lot.. & it really depends on how the place was built in the first place.. I like how the back end of the shot ends in nothing.. Some would say to HDR it so you can get some detail from back there.. or do a remote flash.. but I like the mystery myself..

#3. ok. maybe a bit of HDR.. or a little more power on the flash.. to light up the foreground column.. But damn.. it's a nice shot.. Maybe go the other way.. expose for the highlights & leave the column in stark shadow? ( like in #4 )

$4 Damn man. great shot! composition.. lighting.. exposure.. all great! I wouldn't bring it up except there is a lesson to be had here... the reflective materials on the cuffs of your trousers. The reflective material on them is kinda like the prism reflectors that are on bikes.. or the taillights of cars. Most of the light they reflect goes back in the same direction as the light came from.. So.. if you can do a off camera flash.. and move it just a few feet to your right.. you might be able to avoid most of the reflective materials reflection.. because the light ( from that material ) will be reflected back to the flash and avoid the camera.. where the rest of the light will be more omnidirectional and be properly exposed. OR, you can just say fuckit.. and fudge it in photoshop lol..

#5 Again.. Awesome. I like how areas just go to pitch black.. Ok.. maaaaybe you could have gone horizontal.. Or just crop the top of the photo down a bit No law says it has to be a rectangle.. Leave the viewer wondering where that ladder goes.. Most times the longer a viewer lingers on a picture wondering.. the more they will like it..

Again. cool set.. & cool pics man.. wish I had places like that around here..

I can't do much about the trousers, I do most of my exploring when I'm working so I'm stuck with the workwear

Sure.. I get that. seems they stick that reflective stuff on everything over there.. ha..

I just mean there are things that can be done to mitigate the reflective effect that shows up because of it..
