I have been lurking this forum for a while. Photography not one of my strong points, but I do like the skills that you'all bring to the table. I do have a few questions. Haven't seen it discussed, but with all the pictures that are taken, has anyone here ever had a download that had something unexplained appear? There are some pretty creepy locations that are visited.
Has anyone ever been at a location and had anything collapse or fall? With all the decay I see in some of the photos, I figure some plaster might just peel off the ceiling or wall. Last question....Do taggers just screw up everything?
I live out in the country, so we don't get a lot of that stuff out here.

Thanks

All good questions. I recommend you also visit our rookie section and dig in it a little. I still do after all these years. Also I understand the creepy and believe in paranormal stuff BUT it's best to keep those separate. Especially on this forum. There is, however, a long running thread about creepy shit found while exploring. As a rural explorer myself I also don't like tags but this forum is divided on rather or not it adds or detracts from sites. Your miles may vary. As with dangers the most deadly are the ones you don't see. For the sewer gators here it's gasses. For the urban dwellers it could be that cracked out squatter hiding in the closet who thinks you are a gator. For rural folks it's loosely covered wells using a rotted piece of plywood covered in leaves, grass, and in te bottom of the well, you guessed it, gators.

Something paranormal in the pictures after? Not really, super natural things happening in buildings can happen, but don't let them phase you or you can go into full panic and start imagining things. Not a good thing inside places.

Having things fall is a risk, but I haven't had anything fall on me. Should be more concerned about you falling through the floor, rather than the roof falling on you. Don't be dumb and kick support beams and you should be fine. If you hear a roof under stress, avoid it. Common sense stuff.

Taggers are assholes, usually angsty teenagers spray painting 420 blaze it on any wall/floor/roof available. They don't understand respecting locations and are quick to kick in walls, break windows, and just overall wreck stuff. Places in the country are a bit interesting compared to the urban counterparts. Different set of caution and risks. I'd be more concerned about the good ol property owner with a gun asking why you're on his property with that fancy camera. Plus you get those weird country feels like someone is watching you from a far in the woods.

I've never had anything unexplained appear in my photos but I have had recently charged batteries die but when I move out of the location or to a different building they'll work fine. I don't dwell on the why of it... it just is.

As far as I know I've never had anything collapse while I was in a location, though an exploring buddy did go through the floor of a house once (he was fine, his nuts caught him on a floor joist--sorry guys, I know you're all cringing now). However, I was at a location over the winter and it was a semi-warm day after a recent snow fall. Heard what sounded like a building coming down but instead it was a mini-avalanche off the roof.

I'm not a fan of tags, at all. The more pristine the location for me the better. That doesn't mean it can't have natural decay but I prefer a location that hasn't been tagged, scrapped or wrecked. I'm now getting into rural exploration because there are so many more places to explore doing that. My favorite is finding houses that look like people just went to the grocery store and didn't come back.

Exploring is a heck of an adventure but don't worry yourself too much about things you have no control over--like whether there are paranormal things at some locations. If you're careful and with people you trust, 9 times out of 10, you'll be okay.

I've had "orbs" (Dust...) show up in one photo, but not the next one that was taken less than 30 seconds after the first one. That freaked me out a little bit.

Several times, and it never stops being scary as hell. The worst is when something collapses under you.. Such as a front porch, or a stair. Both of which have happened to me.

When you explore with other people, you tend to chalk up most of the noises you hear to them. But I'm sure there have been other cases where plaster has fallen, or something of that nature.

Yes. One of my biggest envy's is when I see someone take an awesome photo of something, then when I go to the same place to try and get a similar shot - whatever the subject was has been covered in some stupid tag. In my area it's usually " --- <3's -----" or "--- was here" or the all time favorite - a crude drawing of a penis!

It just ruins the image. But at the same time, it adds a different aspect and dimension to it. That sort of fits with the whole "abandoned" theme. I'd still prefer there be no tagging, but I can't fuss too much if there is. It's bound to happen in this hobby.

You'd be surprised. I used to think the same thing about my cousins house out in the country side, but once I started looking for places I found a couple things out there. You just have to look. Start looking around your area on google maps sat. view. Or just take a different road sometime and you're bound to find something. Rurex is quite popular on here!

Those can both be explained. The first one is probably dust that was kicked up. The second one that is showing "orbs" is just small particles of dust.

This was probably due to how you were aiming the camera and light source.

You can tell I don't really believe in any of this ghost stuff. I'm fairly new to exploring, but I feel like worrying about ghosts in buildings is just another way to distract yourself from being safe and aware of your surroundings.

The only time I've ever had something creepy happen to me is in an abandoned school building. I was exploring with a friend and we noticed nothing strange throughout the whole exploration.

When I got home and reviewed the footage I noticed as we were walking out of a room a shadow down the hallway moved. Neither of us noticed in person but on the video it was clear as day. Some things could have explained it though. It could have been us walking out of the light. The strange part though was there were no trails of light reaching that section from the room we were in, and the shadow moved before my friend was even out of the doorway.

I still wonder about it. Here is the clip if anyone is interested in debunking it.

Thank you'all so much for the replys. Guess I just watch to many ghosthunters on TV. I really don't believe in ghost either....but there are some strange things that go on out in the world. Anyway...I'll be around and maybe one day I will break out the camera. I kind of like old barns. We got a lot of them around here.

Thanks
