went on a scouting operation to see if there was anything left on a property near my grand parents house.
the site is the former property of the CIP (Canadian Industrial Paper) plant at hawksbury. the plant was in operation until 1984 when it was shut down, between 1985 and 1991 most of the plant buildings were torn down.
Today there are some things left, from what I could see many foundations and related items strewn about, there is also lots of rubble left over from demolition and a man made lagoon filled with massive amounts of toxins like PCB's. I was told by my uncle who worked there back in the 70's and 80's that there are some structures left. but that will have to wait, due to snowmelt the land surrounding the main road through the site is flooded.
