“We are not going to have the kind of cooperation we need if everyone insists on their own narrow version of reality. … the great divide in the world today … is between people who have the courage to listen and those who are convinced that they already know it all.”

I prefer the quadcopters from http://3drobotics.com/, since they are open source.

Last time I was in Detroit, we spoke with a few guys staying in our hotel that were actually doing all the aerial video work for Transformers 4. After getting a chance to look at their 4- and 8-rotor copters, I developed a major interest in these things. They definitely can provide some amazing footage, but are next to useless if you don't have a proper gimbal mounted to the bottom.

Recon? Try something a lil more discreet if you want to recon a place. Like a spotting scope ;)

You also don't want something as large as the DJI Phantom, they stand out too much. Something like the RC Eye One Extreme quad and a cheap first person setup would be cheaper, smaller, and more effective.

Oh, I saw one of these while I was camping up in Tobermory this august. They most awful sound and stand out like a sore thumb, so if you're scouting a building with any security that may be a little problematic.

I just tie a rope to my camera, and throw it as hard as I can into the building. I then use the rope to retrieve the camera and see what it filmed.

I feel that a drone attracts too much attention, so I got me one of these
