I did promise something different (compared my usual style), and here we go. Foreign company did bought this steel factory two years ago, and shut it down almost immediately - so fast that even old owner's name have not been changed at the gate. Result..? Over 1000 unemployed in small town. Most amazing thing is that many lights are still on, displays show red numbers or error messages, computers are on etc.

Only bad thing were that I was there with my unphotographing friend, so it was just quick 3 hours and 6,6 kilometers there. Anyway, place did get me so badly that if anything strange doesn't happen, I will return there tomorrow, this time alone or with my brother, so there may be part II next week, I wish.

After today I would maybe be brave enough to say: wait for next weekend, better stuff will be released then (I'm going through today's pictures right now).

Even more, especially for me who almost always goes to those small farm houses...

Yeah, especially for me who suffers quite great fear of heights.

Creating hdr's right now (but must quit soon - hdr's and beer ain't too good combination). But I wish that you don't have to depress with that second part. Last weekend it was 3 hours and 6,6 kilometers comparing to today's 4 hours and 3 kilometers. Slower way and loneliness is good for photos, at least I wish.

Thanks, and I agree what comes to those swans - usually me and them doesn't talk same language.

It sure is really amazing. After yesterday I am again more in love with that place... And next friday or saturday will be release day of yesterday's photos. In my opinion they are much better than these... Hopefully I am not wrong with that mood.

Another incredible journey from our most beloved (and I think only) Finn!
Such an amazing photographic essay on dead industry. I've thoroughly enjoyed every awesome bit of it! The swan photo kicks ass too, as does all of your off-topic photos that end your abandonment sets.

Erinomaista työtä, ystäväni.

Awesome shots from an awesome place. I think as a location that's on a level that could attract even foreign explorers...

Wolfheart, if you decide to return to the monster of steel next weekend, let me know. I'm planning on spending the Saturday/Sunday night doing a full-penetration exploration with the guy behind Q-elements.

Not the only one, but definitely the most active one when it comes to proper photography...

Amazing that other finns doesn't share more their pictures here, I mean here are much better photographers than me. But thank you very much. And bonus thanks for your traditional finnish part - I really like that. Always!

I totally agree to that, it really is amazing place. And thanks for "invitation". Now I wonder why nighttime photographing there doesn't have get on my mind before this (probably because of distance - bit easier to get help at daytime if our 25 years old car decides to die)...

God damned how good it must look at night with all those lights on! But I'll probably have to spend next weekend at home, with those 2 trips I've kind of run out of my money. At least if I can't get my brother on the road... If miracle will happen, I let you know. It really would be nice to meet anyway.
