It was totally incredible to find them because this place have been trashed, looted and vandalized to the bone for 30 years and the building is open to elements since the same amount of time! Ive been displaying them at the annual UE event im organising each year.

That's really cool. On my last trip a neighbor across from an 60's abandoned house told us a bunch of town history including his dad going to the school in town before it became abandoned in 1950. All kind of stories about his father's basketball team, first full court in the state and them being the first to go to state before it closed etc.

Inside the abandoned house we found the last school yearbook. It was covered/protected by a roomfull of water damaged books. We retrieved it, cleaned it up and snuck it onto the neighbors porch.

Wow i love story like that and chatting with people who know or have been part of the history of the place.

Oh, UrbexMalt? Any idea when it'll be this year and if Coronavirus will affect it? It would be awesome to try and get there sometime this summer depending on how things work out.

It's around the end of the summer.

I'm gonna make it happen unless we are all still in lockdown.
(wich i think by that time things will have resolve)

For now it's like no different year since i can go work there when i want and there is nobody around to worry from wih covid.

Only thing is that maybe i won't be able to have that much new things or "new features". I'm still thinking about what new i could do this year!

That said, I have some pretty cool items from my exploring days.
One of my prized possessions is a feature length documentary on two 15 inch film reels from a steel mill.

Have a bunch of assorted small items from many other places as well.

I picked up some chunks of anthracite coal while exploring a very well known abandoned mining town...with the abundance of it in that area, I suppose it's just rock collecting, but in my other explorations I stick with taking pics.
Almost took a Christmas card from a stack in a box at an old asylum, but settled for a shot of it...they might've been burned up in the fire that occurred several months later.
To each their own; it's something I don't tend to do primarily because I don't want an apartment full of essentially useless clutter...

Only things I've taken were from demolitions that I got permission for.

Bunch of old buildings in my town (most of which I photographed a few years ago, actually) were torn down last year, and with some persistent emails I got permission from the town gov to do photos of the events. Ended up getting to walk around the demo site with some of the contractors, grabbed an old Nat Geo magazine that somehow survived a house getting torn down on top of it.

Also got permission to take two bricks from an old garage and part of the wood "webbing" from another house's fenced-in porch.

Besides stuff I get permission for, I'm generally too paranoid/guilty about it being theft.

Late addition to this post as I’ve been mainly lurking around the forums for a while, but my thing is old floppy disks. Relatively useless in these days so I feel like there’s no harm in picking them up, but I love seeing what places used floppy disks for in their businesses or whatnot!

I wouldn't usually take anything. especially if it ruins the experience for the next person. I want others to enjoy what they see just as much as I did. There are certain items that i feel like aren't going to end the world if taken. Such as like someone said, a drain plug.

Someone I know decided that he wanted the fire alarm pull box off the wall. So he carefully takes it off the wall and puts it in his pocket. About 5 minutes later there are fire trucks rolling into the place. Who would have guessed the fire alarms were still active?

That's crazy, did he know if the building had power? I always check if the power works, just for shits n' giggles. I imagine it might be one of those things where the fire alarms can alert the fire department regardless, but I don't know how that would work.
