Lately while perusing the UER forums, I've seen a thread on "Urbex Travel Channel TV Show" and just today the "How to make urbex into a career." I just signed on to attend Colorado Media School and get my diploma in Radio and Television Media. Part of this program is doing your own radio shows at one of the radio stations the school has. One station is a "free talk" station, meaning one can do any type of show they desire, from talk to music to comedy to sports, etc. This got me thinking, "how could I use this to do a weekly or bi-weekly show on urban exploration? Mainly focusing on local urbexing in Colorado but also as urbex as a whole?" Has anyone else thought about this or know of any radio shows that have an urbex show? I am open to ideas on how I could go about this and what topics to discuss and anything else.

Urbex radio, urbex tv, urbex magazine, urbex podcast.

Spend less time creating publicity and more time exploring.

Good luck. I did radio for about 7 years. Very tough business. I was actually starting to do really well for myself and a series of events made me have to walk away. I miss it as a career, but I do not miss the struggle.

Pro tip: do NOT try to do on air work if you want to actually make any money. Go for the production aspect, get good, and you can go anywhere.

PM me if you want to know anything. Its been a few years, but I still know plenty of people in the business.

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.
"It's ok Officer, I watch a lot of cop shows on tv, so i am practically one of you guys." - sadly, that didn't work.

Does anyone know if there are currently any other podcasts out there about urbex besides America Urbex? I've listened to all of his and would love to find more to listen to.

here is the link if anyone wants to listen to it

Do you want to end up as Don Wildman? If not, go explore quietly. Besides, the more publicity we get, the more attention cops and property owners pay us.

Fly under the radar as much as possible, to delay the date when urbex becomes mainstream. Mainstream urbexing is good for nobody except cops and hipsters.

How about no.
Stop exploiting the hobby for your 5 minutes of fame. I'm not sure if it's a new thing, or I'm just noticing it more - but what's the deal with everyone wanting to start some sort of TV show or Radio Show or Documentary about Urban Exploring? Don't you realize the larger audience you gain, the more idiots come along with it to ruin the hobby? /sigh

I know that, but as Skye_Ann said, trying to get a little bit of fame at the expense of our hobby isn't really admirable. If the average joe can find it, so can the cops, vandals, and scrappers.

Now, I know that many of them have already found a good chunk of these places, but people who post pristine, hard to find, and/or new locations are handing the information to them on a silver platter.

As it is, interested explorers need to seek out the hobby, not the other way around. I don't want to see urbexing turn into the new skateboarding- with reality TV shows, brand-name clothing, dedicated stores, and the works.
