This house is telling a story all it's own. I mean, it is full of "things", some of which I can say I have never seen before. For example, a full bottle of Thorazine 75mg from 1973, a Shoe Shrine to a son or husband, moth-eaten mink coat hanging on an open closet door, "Come to Jesus" type of stickers and signs all over the place, and a "secret" collection of astrology and dream interpretation pamphlets.

The red swing and a collapsing porch

2.

#30 Thorazine, Dr Gaddy, 8-10-73 still full, never opened.

3.

got paid, cashed that check and put on her lipstick to so shopping?

4.

Lady things...everywhere.

5.

Shoes definitely not bronzed, but somehow treated and then painted gold. Stuffed with plastic fruit and flowers. A single bullet, sample lipstick and some keys grace the hallowed show shrine.

6.

I guess this was even too fancy for church at one time!

7.

The red curtains color the room as through rose colored glasses
Photo with flash shows an entirely different space.

Most of that shoe shrine looks like bizarro Christmas decorations. Maybe Shirley shouldn't have skipped on that Thorazine.

Hahaha! Punchy, I have been thinking that since I found the woman's pill stash!

Thanks everyone, for the comments, it was a "stumble upon" kind of find.
Yes, Ken, I have a crap load of pics, but most are no better than the ones I posted already.
For some reason, I want to go back and put her things straight again. There is no vandalism or anything but her things are turned over and drawers open. Probably someone long ago looking for the crazy lady's money!

This is a gem of a place, thanks a bunch for giving us a look! It's great to see locations that still have their history (especially weird history, as in this case) preserved this well. I'd love to see more!

P.S.: I also adore the first shot, love the tree sneaking in.

(edit to fix the ever-present iPad spellcheck)

I love little houses like this. And the way those numbers are falling off the post in the second #5 is great. Nice set!

This is now one of my favorite threads of all times! I don’t consider anything cooler than finding remnants of history – especially personal items. I was in a place recently that was so picked thru, a few chairs, pencil sharpener, and a couple hangers seem intriguing. This place is beyond to the point where it’s actually kind of creepy!

Great find and great shots!

It is still creepy to me, yet so intriguing?
The Cool as Shit part was what I was thinking when I was in the kitchen. "So Much crap, some cool stuff, some interesting, but all of it pretty trashy...God, I hope it's just the kitchen that feels so nasty, I wish this place had a real room with a piano and lamps and shit..."

Just daydreaming and prepared for the usual, when I opened a door and stepped into this room filled with thick soft light filtering through long red curtains, an old lady red chair, a couple of tv's, nic-knacks everywhere!fake flowers and even a piano!
needless to say, the hour was the only thing that chased me out of there.

(creepy enough stuff in there that I would not want to be in there alone after sundown, chicknshyt that I am.)

It always amazes me the things you'll find while doing rural exploration and it leaves me wondering why the place was left as is. Did poor Shirley get put away because she didn't keep up with her Thorazine or did she off herself because the Thorazine wasn't helpful?

As far as someone upending the place, I'm starting to think squatters do that.
