Also as an FYI, those 3M 60923 filter cartidges are for organic vapor / acid gas - not particulates such as asbestos / mold spores. Of course they're better than nothing, but they're not designed to catch the particulates you're being exposed to.

Why be wrong when it's so easy to be right? Just Google them.

you're right. I was thinking of a different product code, although in hindsight the pink cartridge is a dead giveaway. Only P100 filters are allowed to be pink.

That being said, there are many organic vapor / acid gas cartridges on the market that are NOT P100 rated particulate filters. The 3M 6001 filter cartridge is an excellent example (they're light grey) of one that is not certified for particulate filtration.

The morale of this story is to always check the individual filter you're using to see what it was designed to do. P100 is not meant for organic vapor, and organic vapor filters are not designed to stop fine particulates. There are combo filters out there, but don't assume.

I believe it must say p100 for it to protect against asbestos and mold, correct? There are different colors I've seen that also protect against other things, but do still say p100.

As in these: http://www.amazon....NA/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

Not pink, but p100.

lol it's all about perspective and personal preference. I work in an a very dusty / dangerous environment and deal with respirators for work (It also means I get them for free). I've only worn them on about 15% of the places I explore, and it really depends on the mood I'm in, the weather and what exactly I'm going to be exposed to. I smoke and get exposed to enough dangerous stuff at work that I figure wearing a respirator when exploring isnt the end of the World. Get a bit older, maybe get married and have some friends / family start dying from cancer and see how cavalier an attitude you still have towards your health.

And CatandTie - you're right some brands use purple instead of pink to denote a P100 filter. 3M has a few P100 cartidges that are white with fine pink lines, instead of totally pink ( 2291 I think ). confusing.
