Scariest experience while exploring?

I'm relatively new so I haven't had too many scary things happen, but there have been a handful of places that gave me bad vibes.

Once, in an old abandoned house, we found a completely bare room that was covered in scattered pages torn from the Bible. A week later when we went back to check the place out again, it had been demolished.

Another time, we were in an old abandoned building that could have been some sort of schoolhouse, or maybe a church? It was pretty cool until we circled around the back and found the crumbling wall that led to the basement, which was full of cradles/cribs...

What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you while exploring?

I haven't explored just whole lot of places yet. But I guess close encounters to hobos/scrappers. And climbing stairs on the outside of a mill, being over 100 ft. in the air...and there are 4 stairs in a row that are broken, so you have to make it up from 1 to 5 hopefully without falling. And the stairs starting to break as you climb them. Being a little scared of heights doesn't help the experience either. Ha.

Back when I was sixteen, I spent an entire night with my friend Cody, watching videos about Slenderman and all the Marble Hornets videos that were out at the time. The next day we went to explore a three mile long drain tunnel in our neighborhood called "The Tunnel of Death" for the first time. About a mile in, somebody had spray painted a picture of Slenderman on the wall, and just using the shitty flashlights we had that were basically just toys, we saw it from about 20 feet away and it looked real. We sprinted out of the tunnel so fast that I threw up when we got out.

Thread necromancy!

I just want to share this with anyone who hasn't seen it; it definitely fits with this thread. 2 guys explore a burned-out meat factory in Baltimore, nothing happens but the setting is just over-the-top creepy. It looks like it's about a month old but I just saw it yesterday

https://www.youtub...atch?v=YTLqJ76hosI

He goes back 2 more times, I don't think the next 2 are as creepy as the 1st

I think I would literally shit myself

THAT'S A DOPE LOCATION I'D BE SO DOWN.

Somewhat related, but I do not watch scary movies so I find it quite a bit easier to explore dark areas by myself than my friends who do watch scary movies. Anyone else relate?

I don't watch scary movies, but I have watched a lot of real-life stories about people getting kidnapped, murdered or worse (thank you investigation discovery for forever ruining my false sense of safety) so I relate to your friends' points of view more haha. The world is a scary place man, it all comes down to how aware you are of what can happen if you're not careful. Lack of fear can be really bad for your health

edit; also if you liked that, watch this one:
https://www.youtub...atch?v=Dm2ZI-pT6kU

just to be clear these aren't mine and I'm not affiliated with this guy, I just find these two videos very creepy. With the commentary ob this one it's even creepier IMO

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

Something happened while rappelling, not sure if mistake or equipment failure. In any event, they broke their femur (I think). Everything turned out great, considering! They got prompt medical treatment and made a full recovery, and no one got arrested!

Big ouch. Worst fracture there is. I'm cringing just thinking of it.
Sounds like they might have misjudged the distance. A common descent mistake on ladders and ropes. I avoid the temptation to jump the last few... feet.
