My friends and I went out to an old canyon outside of Mineral, WA yesterday to do some shooting and found an old logging train while we were out. Got some shots with my phone, wish I'd had a camera but wasn't really expecting to find this and I don't generally bring a camera to the range.

You found some goodies!

The yellow crane is a locomotive crane, it's self propelled and used for construction or maintenance of way work.

The large black car looks like a fire tender, I.E. a big water tank for fighting fires.

The last photo is of belly dump cars for dumping ballast onto the tracks, and the photo before that one looks like a jerry rigged ballast equalizer so the MOW crew wouldn't have to do it all by hand.

Nice find, it appears they belong to the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad.

You're quite knowledgeable on the subject, I appreciate the input! I got stationed out here back in 2012 and I've been trying to get my UE on more and more, and finding this train was like a message from the universe telling me to get out and start looking more often haha

The black car was originally a tender for a steam locomotive. It was a adapted to fire use later in life. It would have carried fuel (coal, oil or wood) and water.

Awesome find! I love these "ghosts" of the glory days of logging. Near Klamath Falls, Oregon, there's an actual logging museum. Basically it's a bunch of old logging equipment sitting out in the woods that you can wander around and look at. Cool stuff...
