Packard Plant Status?

Anyone been in or around it lately? I have two kids, work full time, and I am going to opening day at the end of this month. Packard Plant, I always skipped, when U-E-ing in the D...and went for other options.

It's on my bucket list now, basically. I know it was purchased recently.

Is there a perimeter? Rent-a-cops? Any updates on Packards status is appreciated.

I don't get out much anymore...seriously...work, kids, work, kids, work kids.

Still on fire.

Seriously though, it is. The new security guard is only there sporadically and doesn't care about explorers. No fences or anything like that.

Some Peruvian guy bought the place to try to turn into an adaptive-reuse shopping and recreation site in the old buildings. I think the old owner still says he has the title I think so he's having some trouble there.

Met that "security" guy yesterday. He seemed super sketchy.. Not legitimate at all. Pretty sure he's just trying to make some extra bucks.. Not associated with Packard at all.

This.

I'm pretty sure he's going to lead you into the plant then call his buddies to tow you car away.

lol John Revel is NOT the security guard I'm talking about. He has a white Ford Escape with an orange bubble light on top and cruises around from time to time.

So, can you confirm John Revel is an imposter? Just curious.

I was there a few weeks ago, John is in cahoots with the official security guy but isn't official himself, from what we could tell. He kept trying to sell us on a "tour" and show us the best graffiti. We gave him $2 and after boring us for 10 minutes he let us wander off on our own. Both of the real security peeps we met were very nice and simply told us to be careful and don't park in the bays.

Here is my experience with him; He is not official security. Like not even a little bit. He does, however, watch cars for a donation. But even if you pay him then go explore he will pester you for more money when you get back to the point you just need to get in the car and drive away or else he will keep insisting you should give him more. If you let him ramble on and on he will tell the same stories about how he was in the armed service but the branch he was in changes. He's also told us about how he held some kids at gunpoint with his .380.

I don't trust him and I don't trust Ronnie, the black guy in the Army fatigues who hangs out by the liquor store who asks for money to watch cars. They are opportunists.

Yep, he noted my '52 Canadian Army Great Coat and mentioned his service in the 82nd Airborne and 75th Rangers...right.

Honestly the best thing to do at Packard is to avoid everyone who wants to watch your car. Park on the south end of the complex a couple blocks away by the active businesses. We've been parking there for years and never had a problem. It also doesn't hurt to leave a few bullets on the driver seat. Learned that trick from R3D.

I thought of maybe leaving a window open, all the way, and sprinkle a handful of broken glass on the front seat. This only works, of course, if you have nothing in there to steal anyway.

I usually put my car on blocks and haul all the wheels around with me as I explore. Hood up and a door open for full effect.

Really, In the past, I have parked out front of some places and popped the hood. looks legit as fuck, but that was way before the battery was worth $27.
