One of the very first abandoned buildings I ever "discovered" (Before I was on UER and realized other people had been here before) was recently renovated and added to the registrar of Historical Buildings in Ontario.

At one point its fate was unclear, there were several proposals and the one that looked like it was going to win would have the building demolished and turned into apartments. I'm quite pleased with what actually ended up happening. Gives me faith in some of the other beautiful abandonments in the area.

It's quite stunning what new doors and windows can do to a place... I never made it inside when it was abandoned and it looks like the same story will be told now that it is active. It is owned by a company who does film-related rock climbing and rigging. Their website is available here if you're interested: http://www.oneaxepursuits.com/

Either way sorry for the rambling, here's some old photos of the place back in 2010 and just this weekend in 2014.

I love it when these old places get a second chance. In my neck of the woods, everyone seems quite happy with just knocking everything down and leaving dirt parking lots. I had a look at their site and had a laugh when they mention they also do 'extreme toddler birthday parties'.

With all the picturesque farmhouses in ruins posed here, it's great to see this rural church renovated and reused for something new. Your story reminds me of the first building I discovered, the Symes Road Incinerator in Toronto. It's supposed to be revitalized too at this point.

Love the pictures.

I am still waiting for Slash to burst out of those Church doors and do a solo...

I'm a supporter of gay rights. & not a closet supporter either. From the time I was a kid, I've never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being. By the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant. - Paul Newman
