reading "Explore Everything"

Hi everyone!

Its been YEARS. I decided to log on once again. I can't believe I've been a member on here for almost 10 years. Old girl.

Anyways, Husband got me "Explore everything" this year by Bradley Garrett. Verso publishes such great stuff.
Has anyone else read it? I'm about 3/4 the way through and it's definitely made me feel nostalgic about my exploring past. It's based in the UK which is new to me as I don't know many UE sites or crews from across the pond. Super interesting read & I love the photos.

Hi,

I've read the book too, and the story is pretty interesting and the photos quite amazing. I don't know the guy personally, so I won't judge him for what he's done (or not). But from what I heard, the guy's a dick: On every big hit they made, he supposedly contacted the media to bring attention on their exploits... which soon made the BTP (British Transport Police) on their tail, with the end results we know (see end of the book)

Nevertheless, their adventures and exploits are remarkable, and I'm glad I've read the book. It's pretty inspiring! I would recommend it to any explorer who like a good read.

1 - Could have used a few rounds of spellcheck, the book is full of spelling mistakes

2 - Highly Elitist

3 - Waaaaaaaay to much over analyzing and over thinking of Urban Exploring and what is is, what is means and how it relates to blah blah blah

4 - Liked "Hidden Cities" way better!

5 - But the stories are cool!

Oh, I still have been exploring! Just not "officially" and not with meet ups or anything. I don't think it's possible to get it completely out of your system. Thanks for your encouragement

The book has been good. Lots of historical stuff on the layers of tunnels/tube/etc of London. I'll maybe give a complete review once I've finished it.

Interesting! Would you care to expand on your statement?

Keep in mind it's from a leftist publisher and I feel like most of the information he's writing about is probably accessible elsewhere if one was drawn to UE? I might be wrong though & I'd love to hear more about what you mean. Like I said, I know very little about UE history/culture outside of north america.

Wow, very interesting. I'm very glad you responded & actually as I've been reading further I can really see how this would be the case. I appreciate your input & had no idea about the dick-like behaviour in the form of media attention seeking…..lame. Especially when it impacts the whole group. The photos and adventures are remarkable, definitely.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with Steve Duncan...
I met the guy in NYC last spring, even crashed his couch for a couple nights, and he's a very good fellow, pretty down to earth, and passionate about what he's doing.

So, MrGreen, would you like to develop a little bit more about this?
Thanks

Well from articles and videos I've seen of him he came off as a bit of a douche. But I've never met the guy so my opinion is irrelevant.

I was going to complain that Queen's English isn't the same as American English (haven't read it; just assuming), but then noticed you were from Canada, so it's a valid point.
