I made a knife sheath or two but you have to keep pressure ie standing. for say 30minutes to an hour

I think in that case ill use a mold. Light layer of plaster in a wooden form & some high density foam over top strapped down to keep the pressure on. I just wonder if the kydex will be strong enough to prevent a nail from penetrating into my foot.

There's always something to be said about the clowns wearing Chucks that just make sure they don't tread on nails...

I have warn vans and chucks for the entirety of my life up until this Christmas, when my mommy got me a pair of brand spanking new Palladiums. I'm a big boy now.

i have been saying this for years... fire boots.
yep, good old fashioned Ranger or Servus fire boots. Although, in my advancing years, i found a pair of leather Haix boots on ebay that didn't break the bank. Steel sole, steel toe, fire resistant (although this shouldn't really be a consideration in this hobby), chemical resistant... what more do you want?

Chem resistant is something worth investing in. I have more than once jumped into pools of god knows what.

you can find the rubber fire boots on ebay fairly cheap... also, fire departments routinely get new gear (for safety's sake!) and many times, they will either give away the old boots, or charge like $5 or $10 for them.

Lol, my Dad is a 30 year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department and his boots weighed 15 pounds a piece! They were rolled down to his knees but they extended into hip-waders! He used to take me to the Fire Dept. as a kid and would put me in the boots. I couldn't move and I didn't fall over!

They looked like these.

Sketchers are awesome until about the fifth time you wear 'em. I can destroy a pair in less than a week. I have before and I will again. They're very comfortable but the quality just isn't there. I have an outlet store near me and I get close-outs for like 20 bucks. They don't last though unless you just wear them out to social functions that don't include exploring.

had about 6 pairs of these. Down to one pair of Servus that are the thigh-high kind. Those are extremely hard to find now and when you do find them on ebay, you can expect to pay a premium.

These are my preferred draining/exploring footwear, in the warm months.

I mean, mine have Batman and The Joker on them, but Chucks are where it's at.

Totally depends on where I am exploring like sometimes I will wear my steel toe boots if I feel like it is a super hazardous location but if the floor boards are super fragile or I need full range of movement or to climb I wear a pair of old runners. Still in good enough shape that they have good support but old enough that I don't care if they get more damaged

I just wear hiking boots. Easy enough to get at goodwill, if you buy them used they are already broken in.

I feel I'm probably the only explorer that wears Chacos (hiking sandals) when exploring. Comfortable, great tread, easier to get on and off when I'm taking my self-portraits.
