Sorry, not actually a castle :p but honestly...look at it! lol. Very overwhelming. Some of you may recognize it. The inside is like a treasure chest (from what ive seen from other pics). I got these shots before an 'army' of cops arrived with Mr Styk (the caretaker) and gave me a $200 fine. Thankfully i hadnt gone inside or it wouldve been extremely bad (probably 90 jail time). If you do recognize the place, definitely dont go there. Mr Styk literally patrols these grounds 24/7 and i believe he lives in a rented out house nearby so that he is close to it. The locals also alert the police if they see a parked car, or any even remotely out of the normal.

Looking at my high-res picture + from being there personally, i can easily (well, for me it would be easy) make out a great few spots to get inside. All you need is to be inshape & fast, able to climb using only your arms, and a plan. Unfortunately i was extremely unaware of the security issue before i came. Always do some research on big facilities like this. I shouldve figured this was a prime place for urban explorers. Every year there are 100's (yes, you read correctly) of citations + arrests combined. So before you think you have a better idea than the last guy who got caught, just remember that he most likely thought the same thing before he got caught as well!

Im not 100% sure, but that motion detecting floodlight has to be working at night. It just doesnt look like it wouldve been a part of the original architectural design. I mean think about it; There has to be some sort of alert which gives aid to the 100's of arrests + citations per year

I can't even fathom how much manpower and time must have been involved with laying all that stone. Just beautiful.

Ran out of money. Airlines became an alternative/quicker option of going North to South and vice versa, rather than driving and using this Inn as a stop inbetween. well you can contact the owners in VA and help to pitch in some money to get it started up again lol

The last guy I know that got in there successfully was in his early 20's, had to run at top speed from the edge of the property to the building, jump and climb just using his arm-strength and pull himself through a window leaving a half-ounce of skin and shredded clothing on the sill.
He got some amazing photos though. There's also no place to park and you need to walk through a residential neighborhood. I don't have "the look" to be able to pull that off without having the local police called on me within a half-mile of here. It's be a "First Blood" scenario for sure.

Very close to my plan..but no blood/shredded skin

The people I know who went there at all ended up all leaving in bracelets with a police escort.

This place is legendary for its security. That guy just does not fuck around.

has anyone tried the naive girl approach?

lol just kidding.

but tell me why you'd have to climb with just your arms? That I don't understand

(maybe the naive girl thing is more than just an act for me haha)

also, if that place were near me I would DEFINITELY have been arrested or at least reprimanded by now, place is GORGEOUS!

Seriously. Those pics up above give me a nostalgic feeling of that time period. Then again, alot of the places give me the same feeling if i stick around long enough to ponder the past and what it wouldve been like

If you could find city planning documents you might be able to determine if there's an access tunnel or some other subterranean way in. I only say that because that's how we got into one of the asylums out here. But then again, that's an asylum so who knows.

Well great, now everyone is going to be searching for those document lol

But yeah thats an idea. But knowing this facility from the short amount of time i was threre, i can assure you that if there were tunnels...you would not get in. The caretaker is as familiar with that ground as he is with his own face

I was there about 3 or 4 years ago... It was a pure night time excursion but did not run into any issues. But yes, I have heard the caretaker does not f* around here either. Now that I think about it, we did run into a cop that followed our car for a bit, and maybe when the sun was coming up I think we heard some cars driving around the property, too.

It was sealed tight as shit, no joke. We had to climb up onto the second floor balcony after probably close to an hour of trying to find a way in/ upwards/ getting rejected time after time and again.

From what I remember of the place it was very repetitive (being a hotel) but still was a good experience just for the fact that I can say I pulled it off successfully!

Edit: It actually might have been the 3rd or 4th floor... no joke. We had to scale legit walls and shit here.

Yep those are the security people. They drive around the facility with pickup trucks and lights on top (like police have on their roof). Best bet is to jump from a N203E at 10k' -- then land on the roof of this massive building lol. I mean its a little much, but we need to get into the inside
