| That /Other/ 70's House entry by INeedAttention.com 7/14/2004 9:05 PM
| Yesterday I was given permission to enter an abandoned home in Old Tappan, NJ, formerly owned by an eccentric and senile man that had recently died alone. I was shocked to see the state of the house -- where he lived up until a month before my visit. the man was a neighbor of sorts, so i can confirm alot of the information about him, such as how he kept four dogs and a horse outside, and when the horse died about 8 weeks before him, how he continued to leave apples and oatmeal by its rotting carcass for about three weeks. My heart bleeds for this lonely fellow. I am so moved by the decrepid conditions, and the permeating air of sadness that hangs throughout the house, that later this week I am going to find his final resting place and leave a flower and mourn him. No one -- NO ONE -- deserves to die as lonely as this man was. I have never been moved so much by a location as I was by this location. It started off like a normal exploration, documenting the garbage strewn throughout the property, but more and more I found that I grew enthralled by the sheer madness of the conditions in which this man lived. If you're so inclined, check out his house, and try to imagine the pain and suffering this man must have endured. Rest in peace, Mr. Salomon. http://www.uer.ca/locations/show.asp?locid=21509
