Proud Neighbor Magazine entry by uem-Tux 7/13/2004 9:08 PM
So I got an e-mail from the good folks over at Proud Neighbor Magazine. (http://www.proudneighbor.com) wondering if they could use some of my photos in an article; presumably to illustrate society's decline in the United states. Here's the exchange, which you might find funny, and which I'll update as it continues.
Proud Neighbor Magazine is an uplifting and exciting magazine about community life. Within the magazine we have an article on Making a difference , One neighborhood at a Time: What Resident can do to combat Drugs and Crime. I wanted to know if we could have your permission to use the pictures featured on your web-site to help illustrate the article. I've attached the link for you to refer to. We would be happy to credit the photographer or your website if you wish. If you would like to get an better idea of who we are please go to www.proudneighbor.com We are about ready to update the web-site, but there is some information there for you to read about us. Thank you for taking the time. I hope to hear from you soon
If you consent to let us use your picture(s) , please reply or write a formal email back by saying " I consent to let Proud Neigbor Magazine use my picture(link) and credit it to......"
Hi there, I haven't received your reply. Did you decide to use our photos? Could e-mail addresses be provided to us? Please let me know as soon as possible.
No , emails only can be provided for our staffs and if you need extra storage go use gmail or google.
Weeelll.... okay. I guess he just didn't understand the nature of my request.
My reply:
From: Tux <[email protected]> To: censored Subject: RE: Use of Photos
Hi there,
I didn't need extra storage. It's more just about having another address I can fall back on if one of my other ones ever stops working for some reason.
Anyway, I respect that e-mail addresses are reserved for staff, and as such, I remind you that you do not currently have my permission to use my photos.

The concept of a UE having an address called [email protected] is hilarious I think...!
