the original sarcophagus that they built is supposed to last 30 years before it begins to fail, which it already has. and plans for a new one is estimated to cost 1 billion dollars. the problem is Ukraine has no money to do this, so an international fund was started....but I think they are about 10 years behind in fund raising, with that 30 year time limit coming up VERY quickly.
