Don't know how out of the way Cairo is on the way to my family in Tennessee, but I think a side trip is in order next time we go south.

Any problems while you were there?

EDIT: Meh, nevermind. I was debating making the trip, as i was cruising around in street view, but after i zoomed out, it looks like they've torn a lot of the city town.

Looks like The Gem has some structural issues now. I was in there last summer and there was some trees that had snagged themselves around that wall pretty tight. My friend (urban planner) refused to come in due to its condition. Sad.

When I was there, we got into the Gem and they were restoring it. Seemed a little odd for such a loser town. All the other buildings were much cooler on the outside than the inside.

I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird.

Pretty sure the B-52 was introduced in the mid-50s, and with original payload could have knocked down all of Cairo at once
