Missile silo scouting and more

Back to a more UE trip log type thing.

A trip report for last weeks journey to the 725B Titan 1 missile silo can be found here:

http://www.autowitch.org/?q=node/view/1208

I should pry post this as a story under the location, but haven't done that yet.

We've been doing a lot of research on the missile silos - mainly focusing in on the Atlas and Titan bases. The Captain dug up some very detailed information on the Titan 1 bases, including maps showing where every piece of equipment is and photographs of the silos when they were under construction and active. So, if you want to know where Water Chiller WC3001 was*, we have that information.

We have managed to locate (as in actually drive as close as you can drive to the sites) to five of the six Titan 1 bases in Colorado. There is some evidence that at least one more of the Titan bases is accessible - we think we've traced it down. But, as usual, more research is necessary.

A scouting trip visited the doomed neighbourhood in C-Springs. Quite a bit was learned on this trip:

  • Five buildings are empty (four grouped together and one that is seperate).
  • This site has more "No Tresspassing" signs in one place than I've seen in a long time.
  • For old houses that going to be replaced by McMansions, they are incredibly well sealed up. This may indicate that these houses will be moved as opposed to bulldozed.

* If you come in through the subciety enrance to the powerhouse, WC3001 is pretty much right below where you have to cross that beam.

Nice story, sounds like a good time. Sounds almost exactly like my trip two weeks ago. Let me know if you are planning any type of exploration in the near future; I'd love to meet/join you.

I am definately planning to make a trip back there. We ran out of time before we ran out of silo and there were a lot of pictures that I didn't take

I'll let you know when we're planning on going back (I believe Statik in interested as well). One of the people that I normally explore with has a bit of a bizarre travel schedule for the next couple of months so I'm working on trying to fit the next trip in with that. I'll PM you details as soon as they get worked out.
