"Brother my cup is empty and I haven't got a penny..."

I did not explore anything yesterday either. I did, however, go for another bike ride. This time I started at the Coon Rapids dam and did the Hennepin County trail system. I ended up in some regional park way out in the suburbs which was actually getting fairly pretty by the time my friend decided she was tired enough and that we should turn back. The speed of growth of housing developments along the trail system is frightening. When I first found it, it was a relative boring system that mostly went through some fields. Now it's an even more boring system surrounded by pretentious suburbia. Some of the homes have a little artificial pond with two fountains. They all pretty much match each other and they all seem to be striving to outdo neighbors.

After my bike ride I took a quick shower and went to meet up with another friend to see Fahrenheit 9/11. As much as I tend to agree with Moore's position I still really dislike his methods. By taking the extremist stance that he does, he loses such a big part of his audience. I have to imagine that any right-winger confronted with a Moore film is going to be about as receptive to it as I am to a Rush Limbaugh broadcast. I also thought that Moore took an overly simplistic view of the reasons for going to war in Iraq and the results and consequences of the war.

I was hoping to have my Ilfochromes waiting for me when I got home yesterday, but they weren't there. If they aren't waiting for me when I get home this evening I'll have to give Lightroom a call to see if they can get me a tracking number. I'm so excited to see the big one of the cave!

The enb.

Me too. Krenta hasn't even sent any of his stuff in yet. I keep pestering him about it.

You have a flatbed, don't you? Can it turn off the scanning light so that you can use a film adapter? I was thinking about the project a few days ago, and if you had the flatbed I could do an adapter for MF fairly easily. It wouldn't have the correct color temperature, so it would only be really good for black and white, but you do some of your best work in black and white anyway.

The big one of the cave is actually not as good as the 8x10. I think I'm going to have a bigger digital print made instead. Grr!
Anyway, I cannot turn off the scanning light on my flatbed. It's a pretty cheap one. Otherwise I could just probably put my cheap little light table on the glass - and the color balance on it is pretty good.

Darn. I have a cheap scanner too, but it came with a (really useless) negative adapter, so the light can be toggled off and on in software.

I'll file it in the "ongoing projects" part of my brain, and get back to you in a few years.

Excellent.

Of course, by then I may have rigged something up with a flashlight and some tinfoil.

Makes me crave a beer, a shot, a smoke, and some Nick Cave.
