Does anyone prefer a certain airline over all the rest?

I like Lufthansa or British Airways the best.

I just flew on no frills Southwest for OPEX. Minus the short hops and no tv dinner like I loved so long ago, there service and planes were outstanding. Im not very happy with Delta. A long time ago we use to fly on delta but I had 2 airplanes break on me and watched a third blow smoke out a engine. Maybe it was bad times several years ago. Maybe not. However yes I would fly with delta. Just not any russian airlines fuck them.

eh! My favorite has to be United, although their mean as hell to their retiree's. Second would be DELTA. Yes, Delta. And I agree with Mark, Russian airliners suck. Did you know a Journalist by the name of Robert Young Pelton got on a Commercial Russina Airline Flight, and they couldn't close the Aft door? They sealed it with Gaffers tape until the flight was over. Here's something else, when a Tupelov TU-whatever crashed in '88, killing 326 people, It was blamed on the ground crew that couldn't install the autopilot correctly because the instructions were written in Russian Crylic. 2 years later, a man was ingested through the engine of an airplane, and all the pilot noticed was that the engine temperature shot up a couple degrees, so they took of anyway to stay on time.

Those smaller airlines get more buisness during tough financial times when the major corporations suffer, thats what makes them quality airlines.

We just got Spirit Airlines in RI. I haven't flown it yet, but you can fly down to Ft. Lauderdale for $40 (one way) and most of the bigger Caribbean Islands.

Royal Air Maroc was interesting...

I won't list a favourite airline since I'm terribly, terribly biased. However I'll caution you against an airline in particular. If you're in Canada do not fly JetsGo. Their planes are poorly maintained and their crews are two sticks short of a bushell. I'm not kidding about the maintenance issues either, they've had planes run out of fuel on the taxiway and once fired an AME for not signing off an aircraft he felt wasn't airworthy. If that doesn't scare you, I don't know what would.

KLM was the best I've flown, followed closely by Lufthansa. Royal Jordanian or Delta the worst. EasyJet by far has the funniest safety information/demonstration.

Lookup the owner of JetsGo and you'll find that the old bat has run half a dozen airlines into the ground. Why people keep investing in him I've no idea.

Well, from personal experience.

Air Canada is rather high on my "do not fly" list, not so much because of the flights or prices themselves, but their customer service is *HORRIBLE*. I've never encountered as many dolts behind the counter as I have with these clowns.

Example...I went to return a ticket *that I bought myself* - they told me that they couldn't refund my ticket because they couldn't prove it was me that bought it, even though I had my reciept with MY name on it. The Supervisor told me that the only way I could get a refund was if I mailed the ticket to their head office along with proof of purchase. Sorry, but I'm not doing that. I eventually bitched enough and got them to cut a cheque for the amount...needless to say, I won't be flying with them again unless I have to. This includes their other lines, Air Ontario, Jazz, and all the other ones.

JetsGo is good, from a price standpoint, but I agree with KAOS, they aren't exactly known for superior aircraft.

WestJet is probably my favourite. Decent prices, good customer service, they fly where I want to go...so no complaints there. For a flight I wanted to take, Air Canada wanted over 500 bucks for the flight...WestJet wanted 299 for the same trip. Come on.

Flown on British Airways 737-500's and 777-200ER's and the level of service and comfort was extremely high - may cost a little more but I'm willing to pay for a comfortable, well catered flight (free bar) on well maintained aircraft.

One of the worst airlines was Thomas Cook Airlines - inflight service was nill, not even a meal, cabin was cramped and the 757-200 we had on the return flight was SERIOUSLY on it's last leg's. I wouldn't even see it being converted to a freighter it was that bad.
