PHSH in San Francisco, CA

I got to the hospital at about 10.15 in the morning. Would have been there earlier if I had not missed a couple of turns. Sun was shining, birds were singing, blah, blah, blah...

The west gate was open and I was able to walk right on to the hospital grounds instead of having to hop the fence. I will not tell how I got inside as that is something you will have to do for yourself.

I was somewhat pissed because when I got my equipment together last night, I found that my digital camera had taken a crap on me (just bought it about 6 months ago). So, instead, I brought my laptop with the webcam to take some outside pictures (I was not going to lug it around with me in there). These I have already posted in the database entry for this site.

After I was inside (which was fairly easy to do, took me all of 2 minutes to find the right spot), I proceeded to the roof and went all over it (WONDERFUL views of San Francisco). At the top of the roof staircases, stenciled on the doors was the following, 'Military Personnel Forbidden Past This Point.' Glad I was not in the military anymore...

From there, I explored every floor, working my way from the top to the bottom. Most of the rooms were absolutely boring, but at one point, someone had strung up an inflatable doll with some clothes on it and fake blood. It was made to look like a hanging and throat slashing.

With well over a thousand rooms, it took me some time to reach the basement floors. First basement area I went into was the 'COMMAND AREA D' section. Most of the area is wide open and it seemed to me that the slogans painted on the walls (COMMAND AREA TECTONICS, COMMAND D, SUB-LEVEL 25, etc.) were part of a movie set.

It made me smile to think that I was in the same area that some film student had made his film and hopefully the film made it to Sundance. Maybe one day I will get to see the movie, because I will never forget the set...

Then came the weird part...

On the east side of the hospital, in the basement (2 levels down maybe), the was this hallway with empty boxes in it and typeset. Also were empty tubes for shipping. As I went further down the hallway, I came upon a lightstand (was not working) and a sett of doors.

Behind the doors was light and I could here what sounded like an old style off-set printer running. Alas, the door was blocked from the other side! Since I am in the habit of satisfying my curiousity but not harming the site, I tried to force the door with body weight. Nope, could not do!

So, I went outside and tried to find an enterance from there. No luck...

To me, it seemed as if there was a couple of machine going in there and I could detect no sign of people. Heard no noises of occupation. From the crack in the door (made by pushing against the door), I could see a slice of the room. It was lit and I could see multiple shelves of type set. This only got my curiousity up more... And there was electricity in there...

Not wanting to break anything, I finally decided not to try to force the door anymore than I had. I was in the mindstep of footprints only...

So, whatever is there will remain a mystery to me for now. One day soon I plan to go back there and bring some fiber optic camera equipment from work and see what is on the other side of that door. And once I do, we will all know what is there (maybe). I am not going to kid you though, the thoughts of counterfiters making their money down in the sub-level crossed my mind numerous times on the ride home and while I was there.

Who knows what is really there though...

Was able to find the active fire alarm panel across from the server room (creepy, servers in a dead place). Also followed the wires to a room on the east side rear of the hospital, they lead outside. Hmmm... More questions to answer...

The morgue was cool, but the autopsy table was gone. The reefers for the dead were all still there (top three open and one tray pulled out [wonders who that was...]).

Overall, this place is one of the best UE's that I have done in a long time. I would recommended it to anyone, especially since there may be plans to redevelop the place soon.

Definately bring a camera, gloves, water, etc. for this one. As more info is found out, I will add more to this...

Wishing I was Jack Dalton just to have all the cool leftovers...
