I was just in the area like 3 days ago. I was talking to a women about these older houses and why they boarded them all up. Seems the Pickering Airport got Shot Down and all the houses got bought out!

The issue of the "proposed" pickering airport has been on and off again for 30+ years. Now although none to very few decisions have been made during this time there's still height restrictions on developments in the area which makes me believe that an airport will happen in the future. Especially with pickering and surrounding areas, ajax, whitby, etc populating at a stupid rate there will eventually be a need for a durham airport. Pearson should be able to hold the load for another 10-15 years, but its only a matter of time before a durham airport is needed. It's just a shame these people were kicked out of their homes just so their house would lay dormant for years. Doesn't seem fair to me...
