An article from the Gazette's always exciting West Island crime report says that this building was a water tower and is only around 100 years old...
The Gazette Published: Thursday, June 26 Station 1 : Serving Beaconsfield, Baie d'Urfé, Kirkland, Ste. Anne de Bellevue and Senneville Nineteen youths were given tickets last week for trespassing when they were found partying at what is known as the Senneville tower. Police often check the structure, a stone water tower built between 1892 and 1903 for the Morgan family country estate. The tower is now surrounded by forest off Senneville Rd. and has been unused for decades. The empty structure has been a gathering spot for area teens who go there to drink beer, light bonfires and make a nuisance of themselves. It is not considered a safe place. It is also private property. On June 17 at about 2 a.m., police officers found 14 kids partying and drinking at the site. All were given tickets for $144 for trespassing. The following morning, also at 2 a.m., another five youths were found there. They were also ticketed. Police are hoping the tickets will be a deterrent and the teens will no longer venture onto the property. © The Gazette (Montreal) 2008
