One thing: I find myself fascinated by all the flooding in the basement. It was really 3-4 feet deep in the lower bsmt? How did this happen? Natural flooding / runoff? I know that buildings with now power tend to flood because the pumps don't work, but that seems to be a little ridiculous. Can someone fill me in on the details with this one?

I'm not sure *how* it got flooded, but the squash courts were pretty deep. About 5 feet in some places. I'm guessing something burst.

Or most likely ground water. The sump pump at work broke down and a large area of the lowest level for the parking garage was flooded with about 3 inches of water in four hours. No pipes had burst.

Also, the Regent theatre's basement flooded pretty quickly when the power to the sump pumps was turned off. The downtown core of Oshawa was built over a swamp and the Regent is over an underground stream.
