Lights on all over place < on 12/5/2005 4:06 AM > | Reply with Quote
When I visited Chestnut Lodge back on November 20th, the lights were on. I went in the early evening, before it got dark. We parked behind the place by the barn and walked over to it, but on the way over we saw lights on in some trailer. Also, the main building had lights on (if facing it from the main road it was on the left side). They were located in the back on the 3rd or 4th floor. Also, there is a section that is poking out there, which had it's lights on also. The basement windows are busted in so it wouldn't be hard to get into, but we didn't enter due to the lights being on. I could understand the lower level being on, but the top didn't make sense, maybe to scare people like us off, but all I'm doing is photography. I have a lot of information on Lorton Prison also, but there isn't a place created yet and since I'm not a full member I can't create it, so if anyone wants anything on Lorton let me know, or if they know anything about Chestnut for my visit back soon.

I am also a new member and grew up in Centreville, VA near Lorton. Having driven past the prison many times (especially since it has closed) I have always wondered if it is possible to gain access or to look around the outside or grounds without getting in trouble. Will be in VA Jan 29-31

Been to Chestnut Lodge a few times and don't sweat the lights. Nobody's home. the building is well sealed again but a fun trip that I recommend for beginners
