Hello fellow explorers,
Several weeks ago I checked off an explore that’s stood out to me since well before I started exploring. Goste and I went together as we’ve both known about this place for over 15 years and it’s recently been posted about and now moved to a private thread but given our history with the place and the shots we have to share I thought I would start a new thread.
This location was built in 1950 by a Gypsum company to serve as a wallboard plant for over half a century. Unfortunately the plant faced many issues over the years including delays in Union Pacific shipments caused by a shortage of railcars. In 2002 the company was forced to shut down this location after countless asbestos related lawsuits forced them to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy. This site is huge, a full 24 acres of property including an 80,000 sq ft. warehouse, a 115,000 sq ft. manufacturing plant, and 3800 sq ft. of office space.
As a kid I used to make bmx bike jumps and berms in the surrounding fields with my friends and that’s when this place first caught my eye. In high school a few of us used the empty streets nearby as a place to drink, smoke, and hang out. I’ve got a ton of memories of this place, but I personally had never gotten around to exploring it until now. I hope y’all enjoy!
