| Entry: Enemy house originally posted by Steed
| Enemy house (n): a structure built by a hostile foreign presence, usually backed by military power. The term originates in Korea to describe structures built during the Japanese occupation which ended in 1945. Derived from the term "jeoksan gaok," which is itself a shortened version of a longer phrase. 적산(敵産) 가옥, with 적산 being short for '적의 재산' The old house was denied architectural preservation status because it was seen as an enemy house, and demolished. | Modify this entry | Remove this entry |
