Designed by Tyge Arnfred and Viggo Møller Jensen, the school opened in 1973 and had a great reputation not only for its architecture. With subjects such as crafts, sailing, music and social sciences, it attracted competent teachers and dedicated students from across the country. In addition, numerous courses and events for outsiders were offered. Thus, the school was an integral part of the local identity. The school, abandoned for many years, has suffered from vandalism. Nevertheless, there are tangible plans to renovate the building, with sustainability being a major factor.
