I spent a month in Germany last year and stayed in an apartment on Fischerinsel, right down the road from this place. I passed it every morning on my way to the College and was amazed every time. After seeing the old pictures from inside, and having seen the outside firsthand, I am convinced that this is one of, if not most, interesting prospect for a UEr. Of course the circumstances make it virtually impossible since it's fenced in and semi active sometimes.
My point is...what are the UErs in Berlin doing about this?? Has anyone been inside, with or without permission?? It's simply fascinating to me, as most of Berlin is. I may need to return next year and will make it my mission to get in there! Any info you could provide would be great - I also may need your skills in speaking German one day if I get arrested!!

I remember seeing this place back in 99, and wow is a good description. I of course had no time, but someone has to have been in there? anyone? anyone?

Been inside in June 2005 while they were removing asbestos. Access was very easy. doors were open.

It was great, very dark, very grey "cement" everywhere and full of asbestos.

Is there anything left that shows it's elaborate decoration, or is it down to the bones?? so jealous...

Most of the ornate lamps and light fixtures were removed and mostly sitting on the floor in a corner...

Walls were ripped open as they were in the process of removing asbestos. Outside of it was not very nice since some material has been removed.
