I can't update the status, but there was severe fire damage to the building as of 6/2/12. The bits that are left were immediately put on plan to be demolished.

Yup. I dropped by to edit the DB and saw this post. Haven't made it down there to see it myself. Probably won't bother.

The group that tried to renovate the mill back in '05 was told by the environmental panel that construction had to stop due to wetlands issues. They held on to the property for a few years and sold it for $10k to another developer (2010?), who apparently didn't do their homework and got the same response when they tried to pull permits.

So, no big surprise here. I really liked this building.

On a side note, today I spoke to a man who told me he was a resident in "old Main" at Northampton State in the late 60's. Got some electroshock therapy there. I have no reason to disbelieve him. Just sayin...

yeah, i'm really not too surprised either. it's just a sad pity seeing buildings in this state. Such a great spot to hang out and do filming and such. Not many places like that left in CT.

Dammit, just heard about the fire. Liska and I shot the shit out of that place. It was the kind of site where you had to work to get decent pics, but there was plenty to see. I'll add my pics to the DB now.
It was one of the first spots I took my son to (on his way to getting hooked on the fun).
