Meth lab that was abandoned for about 2 months? Maybe 3? There was a big bust and i lived like .1 miles from it, you know shit hit the fan when the forensics team is there and bam as we were driving home from MD last night that truck in their driveway was a robber who got shot. But yeah. Meth.

I found a full bar full of completely non-drunken liquor in a mock wild western saloon. The mannequin bartender was freaking me out too much to stay there very long though.

I have found cars, antiques and equipment of all kinds. But as far as most valuable? Almost certainly this large piece of medical equipment on the top floor of a large hospital. Most of the other equipment in here had been removed long ago. But this behemoth stayed behind. I believe it was for doing CAT scans, or something similar.

A friends of mine works on machines like this for a living and is very familiar with this particular model. He told me when this was new it cost in the $1 million dollar range. It is a bit outdated now, at least here in North American. But it would be a very desirable piece of equipment for a developing nation.

Last I heard it had been broken and vandalized.

I've found a couple really cool things in my exploring. Some are really cool like a shed full of go-karts or an arcade with the games still in it. Others have been already written checks from a house I was in. One check had up $1,300 filled out and it was blank. I was younger at the time so I figured somebody could write their name in and cash it so any check that I found I ripped up just in case. There was another place I went to that had this beautiful antique singer sewing machine and when I looked it up it was selling for about $1800. I went back a few months later and it was all smashed up. I'm not a person that goes into place to loot them, but man if I knew it was going to get destroyed, I would've possibly done something to prevent it.

That's heartbreaking; it would have made a great living room conversation piece
There have been members here who thought along those lines... I wish I was joking

There was a art deco style xray control console the size of a coke machine at Pennhurst circa 1950s that was stunning as well functional.
They are rare finds now.
Leaving that to rot was heartbreaking.
I'll see if I can dredge up an image of it.

Better it gets destroyed than you get charged with grand theft, a felony charge.
They have S/N on those machines...

Taking only images makes the mission a lot less complicated.

It sucks so bad but he's right. You know nobody will miss it but the second you take it the FBI is busting down your door asking questions about a reported stolen diamond ring that used to belong to the President of Italy's wife that went missing in 1982.

Better safe than in prison!

Yeah. Even if you take souvenirs from an abandonment to preserve them, it's still theft, and still a major faux pass in the urbex community. I recall reading somewhere about a guy who caught major flak for scrapping some official NASA stickers from some toolbox he found, because he denied other explorers the opportunity to discover them.

You can never know for certain whether something might get smashed, so it's better to leave it for other explorers.

Found a fully intact Bridgeport machining station with a desirable M-type head and a lathe my friend "would literally kill someone for" on the fifth floor of an abandoned mill with a destroyed freight elevator. I'm sure some of ya'll know where I'm talking about.

Besides that, nothing valuable that wasn't already destroyed.

Found most of a record store once. I think we mostly laughed at the obsolete music discs, this was before vinyl got popular again

That vinyl would have been nice to find! Wow. lots of LPs there.

Once found two classic Mustangs in a garage attached to an old technical college. Not sure what year they were, but there was one heck of a lock on the door leading to the garage. Gotta figure if the door's locked, there's something worthwhile behind it!

I may not have found anything seriously valuable inside of an abandoned place, but I've seen abandoned places that could potentially sell for millions. Does that count? Lol

I tend to explore active sites, in fact I've never explored an abandoned building so it's become normal to run into really nice radio equipment, elevators, computers, and even keys!!! Keys in this situation includes building keys and the freaking fire service elevator key for my city. It's eye opening how incompetent some people are when it comes to security.

I definitely once stumbled onto a massive rock of crack or coke or whatever it was in some building that Im pretty sure had previously been a squatter camp.

As An urban explorer I total relate to the whole "see but dont take thing" but it seems like anything that is of value ends up in the wrong hands and at this point if we did take something if we value it and treasure it is it a big deal? thoughts please...

I found joy with friends through the experiences I've had.

I also once found a new roll of toilet paper when I forgot mine at home.
