Two escaped murderers are loose in northern NY
< on 6/10/2015 2:34 PM >

I thought I should post this here, since people exploring buildings around northeast NY probably don't want to bump into these guys.

That's a good call, Zod. I seem to remember pics up here last year of the place in Pennsylvania that a cop killer was hiding out in. It might have even been one of you guys that posted it, but I can't remember.

Oh, you mean Eric Frein. They found him at an abandoned airplane hangar, just near some other buildings. Before that, the cops searched at least two other well known abandonments. At the time I was thinking "Well, the Poconos are off the list, because I don't feel like getting shot by an army of SWAT teams." lol

Dannemora is about an hour from my house. People are losing their fucking minds about this. Personally, I think Elvis has left the building and these guys are out of the area code. This is the first escape ever since NY built the place in 1865... there's a movie of the week in there somewhere I am sure.

That was entertaining. Seriously though. It seems impossible, because power tools make hella noise and take a long time to use for cutting. And then you need the extension cords, as well. Something just doesn't add up. Yes, there was the woman who helped them, but she could have only gone so far on her own. I honestly think the holes seen in all the photographs must have been cut into the jail cell walls from the outside in.. In other words, from the tunnels into the jail cells.

It's just that the authorities won't admit to having such an obvious flaw/ vulnerability in their jail. Sure, there was construction going at the jail, but how much of that work was enough to mask such a high profile escape? And exactly how would such power tools be "stolen" by inmates in the first place?

I was exploring in Sharon Springs and the Catskills beginning of last week. I did not even think about the possibility of running into them until a friend mentioned it. We still went out though, we were far enough away from Dannemora area I figured we were pretty safe.

I agree with Samurai. I would imagine they left the area as soon as they escaped. No way they planned such a complex escape and did not have a equally good plan for when they got out.

Not sure about that video but kind of funny, but they have already stated that there were guards that helped making it a inside job pretty much which is the only way for this to be pulled off.

the one guy had contacts and relatives in Mexico. That would be my bet. They had a five hour head start from when their absence was noticed. From Dannemora, you can be almost of New York in 5 hours heading south. i don't think they headed into Canada due to the security at the border now.

and they still haven't been found.

They were looking about a hour and a half south of me this past weekend. They were supposedly spotted in a small town off I-86 called Friendship. I am very familiar with that area since my buddy has a cabin nearby. The whole town was pretty much on lockdown Saturday. All because some lady saw two "suspicious looking" men by the railroad tracks. The whole thing makes no sense to me. I'm sure they didn't walk the 300 miles from Dannemora to Friendship and if they had a car they would have long been out of state or country. They actually closed down I-86 in both directions checking cars, 70+ troopers were out there!

Update: they found and killed one guy. And that other guy is still stuck in the woods somewhere trying to get to Canada. I doubt he's going to survive much longer.

NY State Trooper Jay Cook shot and apprehended David Sweat yesterday. He's in custody at the Albany Medical Center in Albany NY.

That's a shame, really. Society needs murderers to keep the population in check.

these two were far from agents from hell... one was a moron that hacked his boss up with a hacksaw (which I can understand). And the other was some western NY hillbilly who got stupid one night and shot, killed and ran over a sheriff's deputy (which, to a certain extent, i can understand).
