	heres a trip i took a few friends on, some really cool bunkers. i love going here! im gonna try and keep them in chronological order from where you get onto the island to where the trail goes past the smaller bunkers to the big ones. the first picture is of the trail (theres a few of these that you walk on in between the causeways of rocks) on the sides of the trails theres some overgrown foundations of small buildings and also foundations where big army guns used to be ( if i remember correctly) the trail a view from one of the small islands to the connecting rocks and final island (this is on the right side of the picture where the biggest bunkers are at) we pass a few smaller bunkers like this one along the way to the big bunkers at the end. these are basically big half dome structures. outside door from the inside looking out (this is a different bunker than the picture above, but it is pretty much exactly the same structure. entering the big bunker (you have to walk through this one to get to the 2 other ones at the end of the causeway) this is probably the biggest bunker on the island. there is a ground level story you can see in the picture and also a sub basement entering the sub basement (theres a heavy wooden door thats fallen at an angle you have to use as a ladder to get down there) some pipes on the ceiling of the sub basement the door you have to crawl back up back up in the entrance, if you dont go down to the sub basement and turn left you can go into this weird room with a funny looking floor this bunker is shaped like a T, these two pictures are either side of the corridor at the end. both sides are exits. looking inside one of the many doors in the long hallway after you exit to the right, there is another bunker hidden inside the hill, before you get to it you pass this flooded foundation this bunker has a huge stack type thing on it you can look down, heres the view into it. wouldnet wanna fall into here what we were looking at heres the actual entrance and the hallway these are the rooms in the second big bunker hope you enjoy these

	Hey, it's my old stomping grounds! Are you still in Sitka? I could recommend a few other locations to check out. I went to high school there and those bunkers are partly what got me into UE. I assume you had a boat to get out to the causeway? There's some stuff on the other islands along the causeway, and farther out on individual islands. Also, mad props to the dude wearing Xtratuffs, I've been trying to introduce those to the Midwest as a local UE fashion Turn off the internet and go play outside. http://spamusement...hp/comics/view/137

	Your big bunker was the Central Traverse Magazine for battery 292, which had two 6" canons mounted in shield turrets. Here's a cutaway view of the standard design: The room with the wierd floor was the power room, they had diesel generators in there, and an exhaust tunnel behind it. The rooms along the front hallway held powder and ammunition, and the rooms in the back were command and control. There's a lookout/rangefinding post on top that triangulated with similar posts to get enemy ship positions. The other large bunker is the Harbor Defense Command Post / Harbor Entrance Control Post, the overall command and control for several gun positions around the area (there's an older HDCP bunker on an island closer to the start of the Causeway). As far as the sub-basement, I've never heard an explanation for that, it's unique among the several dozen bunkers of this type that were built around the US. The big guns were dumped off the end of the island after the war, along with a bunch of other equipment. I believe there's a website somewhere with SCUBA divers' photos of the stuff. 	hey freak! i thought you would find this page haha! we just took a little inflatable skiff and borrowed a couple kayaks to get there. they dont let you go there by land anymore. i am up there every summer, i know theres one bunker in middle channel, but havent taken the skiff up there yet. we always drive by it in the big boat and look through the binoculars though. is there any other big structures like the ones on the causeway? that blueprint is really interesting, where did you find it? it looks almost exactly like the big bunker on the causeway. ill show this to my fam that went with me, i think they'd be really interested in that diagram too! i remember i'd told you along time ago i'd post pictures up , finally went over there again and did! shoot me a pm, i'd love to hear about those other locations. glad you enjoyed the set. i guess they do tours of the causeway now, and you get a little history lesson on it, that would be real cool to go on sometime too.

	i did some poking around and found out a few more facts. the half cylinder shape bunkers on the way to the big bunkers were ammunition holders and i believe the flooded box was a fuel tank as well.

	Alaska is such a beautiful place - and very UE friendly it seems! I hope I can get over there someday and check out that bunker. That's awesome that you have to take kayaks to get there...

	I have always wanted to make it out to the Adak to explore someday, but this Sitka stuff looks pretty sweet as well, thanks for sharing. And this thread is definitely getting marked as a favorite so I can look into the Seward stuff, as I actually do visit there, just never looked into exploring there. Actually when Lil Bugsy and I were up in AK in March we went exploring the Buckner building, and then afterwards while researching the place I came across UER, and the exploration has been on since! hehehe Love seeing AK exploration stuff, can't wait to get up there and play more soon. 	hey i just checked this again, havent been on for a minute. @freak did you go inside the cape spencer lighthouse? is it still in operation? that is pretty far up in the middle of nowhere, you'd need a prety big boat to get up there then anchor up and take you kayaks from there, it would be awesome though, saw it from afar this summer. @sincal rider, if you ever planning on going back up to alaska anytime message me and if the time works out i'd take you to those bunkers to expolore sometime, i love showing people this kinda stuff, and being a uer yourself i know you'd appreciate it.

It's still live, but automated now. There's a pretty decent anchorage behind the cape, sometimes the packers stop there. I've done CSP a couple times, once by kayak (tricky), and once got dropped off with a large zodiac. The cliffs are pretty steep and slippery with kelp depending on tide, so you have to be really careful.

Just a side note, the site is alarmed, both the lighthouse and the radio towers (active cell and microwave repeater site). It's a long way from the nearest Coastie base, but since it's an active navigation/comm site, the penalties for damaging anything would probably be severe.
