I think so. What I don't understand is why me drinking makes your riddle more coherent.
*edit. maybe if I stopped drinking, i'd spell better, too. Damn college and its consequential obigatory drinking.

Monty who? I know Monte Carlo, Monte Cristo... Good on yah, went over my head. (Honestly) Plus I was too busy practicing for my test with the Ministry of Silly Walks. I passed!! And K.K. your encrypted message was understood to the, um, letter.

Don't forget the full monty!!

I once had a teacher we called Monty. His real name wasn't Monty. It was something else. He was a bad man. A very, bad, bad man. Variations on Monty: Minty. Smitty. Minty-Mont-mont. Monty Minty Mont. Fucking Monty. A total prick. 25 years later and I still want to pop him. He was one of the guys who told me that indigenous North Americans were savages, and that the people who came from Europe were the salvation of that savage race, as the Europeans... Frontenac, Cabot, Cartier, et al, were good men serving God and Jesus Christ and that in killing off/stealing land from viz. a viz. The Treaty Process/burning entire villages to the ground etc., was all part of bringing the Christian God to people who were otherwise living lives that were nasty, brutal and short. There was a bit of talk about beaver, as I recall. And canoes and then we switched into rail roads and giant hotels built at lake's edge, or stacked up on stilts on reeking mud-flats. There was a gold rush...blah blah blah. All I remember is that smarmy prick at standing at the front of the class room pushing smudged eyeglasses up the bridge of that long English nose with his stick-like fingers. Nudge-nudge SAY NO MORE.

And then you read Ward Churchill and realized that the only reason any of the myths about first nations being savages are perpetuated by the media and the school system are to make us feel less guilty about not decolonizing, about how the residential school system still affects my walk to work every day, continuing a centuries old genocide on a slow and painful scale and not speaking up for first nations rights? I think I had a few Monty's in my education....

Are you sure it wasn't religious based? or even blind faith based?? I hardly think it was what you call "faith " based, based on your descriptions of it.

Faith-based. I don't want to get into splitting hairs over whether it was 'religious' versus blind faith...but I get your point. Put it this way: mid-way through a 'lesson' on Holy Sacrament, a 14 year old boy put up his hand and said, "...but Sir. Isn't that really just ritualized cannibalism?" It didn't go well after that.

If you stand with your back to the front door of any (or at least most) of these Churches, you're pretty much looking into Old Town and Chinatown. It's as though all those spires act as beacons from waters-edge at Warf Street, way below, to Church Row on Quadra. Just an observation. I've heard a number of these stories as well, meggaman. At least from the point of the architectural features of 'a church' having additional spaces of which there is no known or acknowledged purpose, etc. etc. etc. and are likened to either long passageways or tunnels, and underground. On one occasion, a kindly gent did offer up a smudge of information. "That's where we keep all our old birth and death notices. Ornaments from displays. Files. That sort of thing," is how he explained to me.

Oh how I miss your fair city... Once was lucky enough to catch one of the front towers doors open (would be the NW tower) and popped up with redux for a quick visit. Third photo, the Anglican godbox I think.

i almost guarantee if you were to work balls up & sneak in those churches to a basement access ? then you most defineatley will find something interesting.
i myself have heard of those graves by the double towered church( by the courts & crown council buildings & the ymca ) rumor has that a priest used too do just that & go into a place of hidden passage or underground , its weird there is a pyramid on the top of that church. also there is lots of buildings that seem meaningless yet used like so all by the parliaments at 3 or 5 in the morning i heard ''people'' enter the back of the parliaments from my family who works a night shift every week i figure though probably the easiest way knowing any entrances is asking your fellow members at the needle exchange & coming from fresh out of E.M.I. them they know i am certain not long ago the other day i was tripping out on those priest guys who wear brown all over town but i was told those are monks? i used to see them every where & i still wonder about the secluded odd fellows building in esquimalt hardly noticeable
just a load of curiosity keep them eyes n ears open 2020
