Matthias: Fun times! Was that a snail or a spider? Or a snail eating spider? Weird... Mr. A. Lien: I think the strange spaces are cool nontheless. Did the guy with the hardhat seem to know anything? Maybe he had seen some strange things!

MD; Will check the Wraiths, haven't for a few months. Nice photos Mathias, the Burrow is amazing. SK; the guy told me some things I forgot to post. First of all, he didn't mind being in the picture, (the only reason why I posted it). These spaces are cool, and I believe it's possible they will sometimes have clues, or even access to other "tunnels". The substantial height of this one is impressive. The poured concrete shows how the tunnel continued at one time towards the water. At the other end, was an old rock wall. A bulkhead? type barricade, maybe the under sidewalk space continues after that, below the next building. This space was much bigger and higher than the one nearer the ocean I got into last year. The construction worker also had some very exciting news about the Empress sub basement. Partly, that he had been down there, and the tide comes in about a foot deep in places. We knew that, what else he said, I am not able to disclose here...

I believe that it was a snail ensnared on the right, and the spider itself on the left

About three or four years ago i checked out bowker drains with gumboots and a flashlight... kinda interesting but nothing special. now i've looked through the whole thread but i dont remember all the spots so this may be new. somone I have known my whole life told me of a tunnel that runs from under the ledgeslatuer over to the pink government building across the road. a couple other leads that i'll postsoon. seeya.

So. KublaKhan and myself were just getting into our cars after poking around downtown a bit and having coffee and a sit down with a friend. And suddenly a guy on one of those low-rider chopper-like bikes skids in to the parking lot and asks us what the fuck we were doing looking at him. Bandanna, mustache....mean looking dude. Us: "We're just taking off man" Him: "Oh yea? You're just taking off now that I'm here huh? What were you doing watching me. So whats going on huh?" (This guy is totally tweaking, not making eye contact, and wobbling his head around. He look like he wants to throw down) Us: "Don't worry man we were just getting in our cars, we're gone" Him: "Yea, best you know you shouldnt be messing with me I saw you over here watching me now I'm coming over to see whats up...so WHATS UP?!" (Or something I dont remember exactly) At this time the guy is looking like he is ready to pull out a 7 inch bear-plugger knife and start whipping it around.... I glance slightly to my left to see KK beginning to make a fist behind his back. I assured the guy as best I could that we weren't watching him and he rides his bike away swerving left and right. In KK's words: This guy was definitely looked like he just got out of prison and wanted to go back. [EDIT:] This guy is lucky things didn't turn to fisticuffs because KK had a couple in him......Coffees

It would have been a threesome. The man was bent on having a bit of the old ultra violence. Too bad he looked slightly goofy riding that low-slung punk-ass bike. Yeah...I'm feelin brave now, but MAN JAYZEZ was it sketchy. I lay awake last night going through All Possible Outcomes, and the final tally had Peterman and I answering Official Questions as to why we mashed some dude flat with our bare fists. "Self defence, officer." Anyhoo, Peterman and I met a nice fellow prior to this little confrontation who offered some of the most profoundly startling details re: Victoria's Secret Tunnel Network™ either of us have yet heard. There was talk of big money and steely eyed 'personal assistants' who keep their hands inside their coats at all times, high stakes gambling featuring thick stack of crisp $1000 bills, boobytraps, dire warnings. My sincerest thanks to our new friend for sharing his information. Your contribution has brought us THIS much closer to the front door.

Hey folks, long time no post. Sounds like you have had some exciting adventures! I, alas, am stuck working and schooling with little time for fun and crawling through tunnels I did, however, have a fun time on a visit to Seattle during the summer when I had the opportunity to explore a certain large abandoned factory. I assume most adventurers in Seattle have been there - it is just outside of town and it is HUGE. It took us hours just to search one wing of it... 13 stories tall or so. Basement is flooded and submerged in water. Eerie place - I will post some pix sometime. In any case, today's post is brought on by a desire for input from y'all. I am working on a paper for school and the topic is related to issues near and dear to the UE heart. I am writing about the concept how the concept of private space in the form of private parking lots is problematized by public usage. For example: - living/hangout space for the homeless - people walking through it - people parking there who aren’t paying for parking/are not patronizing the relevant business - festival/concerts taking place in the parking lot - teenagers hanging out in the parking lot - pickup hockey games in the parking lot - driving school For those of a scholarly bent, I am attempting to show that private ownership of empty space is logically incoherent using post-structural theory as a critical model. I would be VERY interested in your thoughts on the subject and/or ideas for a SPECIFIC space (parking lot) that I can profile in the paper. Regardless of feedback, I will post a link to the paper when it is done later this week, in case any of you are into reading scholarly BS. Hope everyone is doing well, and happy tunnel-hunting!

xenofex, that does sound good. The alternate uses for public spaces is the part of my thesis I'm going to have to cut. There just isn't enough space (120 pages, and not enough space? oh crap). Looking forward to a look.
