I have a Canon Rebel T5i, and I decided to buy the EFS 10-18mm IS wide angle lens. I think it's pretty nice so far, it's definitely allowing me to get a different kind of shot than my kit and zoom lens ever would. Well, here are some of my favorite shots from the past week:

Rather Glare-y, but I kind of like the glass. I think I'm going to go back and get multiple exposures so I can bracket it.

I like the picture, but I don't like the distortion. Also, the background is too sharp for my liking, as the fastest f-stop was 4.5. I definitely think http://i.imgur.com/4iu7lu6.jpg is a better shot of the bear. But that was using my kit lens (18-55mm).
And if anyone has any other tips for shooting with wide-angle, it would be much appreciated!

I think you're doing really well, Piecat. Using the wide to your advantage, getting very close to things (mainly the floor). You also seem to be taking into consideration everything inside (and outside) the frame and how that makes the picture.
I think 3 is the weakest one there (I'm skipping 1. It feels like a test shot and doesn't come close to the rest of them). You could have shown a door or picked a different angle or something on that room - I just want it to be more interesting.
Watch your levels on #4, too. Otherwise, great work! You're settling into that wide really well! Keep it up

I will comment on 1 because I think the can is a pretty colourful, unexpected subject. How can it be "spicy" cherry soda?
The problems with the others are pretty obvious and you can probably figure it out. 2 and 3 are diminished by blown out windows, and while 4 might be, the window is less important to the scene. And yeah, the other shot of the bear is hard to compete with.

I absolutely love my wide angle lens, they're so much fun to play with. I agree with pretty much everything that's been said, particularly about watching your highlights. Do a little research on bracketing shots and try that out. It will help a lot with your values.
I agree that the secondary shot of the bear is much better. While wide angle lenses are awesome, I don't think it's the right lens for that shot. It sucks that you can't get down past f/4.5, though honestly you'll probably use it higher than that for most shots since you'll more likely use it to capture an entire room and want a sharper image.
Keep in mind that if you have Adobe Lightroom, it's really easy in that program to both merge bracketed shots and correct distortion. You can correct distortion in ps too, but I think lightroom gives better results.
Nice shots overall though, I look forward to seeing more of your work. Also, I know where that last one was taken! Surprised it's still standing. Just out of curiosity because it looks familiar, is the first in gary?

I don't even know if it's still standing, the picture was taken a few months ago. I know there were plans to take it down late 2015 into early 2016.

i love love love them all! great amount of colour with the graffiti. The second one was a litttttlleeee too blurry for me (the graffiti part). I would've like to have seen that photo maybe a little closer to the glass so its clear your focusing on it, otherwise great work!

I enjoy playing around with my wide angle lens as well. I really like all the pictures here. Good work nicely shot photos.
