KK's post almost sounded like an April fools, but KK is too much of a jaded cynical jerk for that.

I was serious.

If you're deep into electronic music here in Vic then you were likely here on the weekend. I've never been to a party that was this "underground"

Nor have I danced soo hard in my life.

I'm glad i wasn't there...I would never want to be at a party that would have me as a partier. Also...up your sewer pipe Peterman....I would have gone.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

It was outstanding. I had no idea Peterman was such a passionate dancer.

The acoustics were incredible, Bay Street rocks, hopefully this will become a yearly event. I can't believe they let my vintage ass in. Grecian Formula + lurking in the back = Awesome Times! Great shot J.P. Mine are all blurred

As a Lower Mainlander reading this thread, I'm fascinated. I can't even remember if I've posted here yet, it's such a long-term thread. I've finally found myself in town, although sadly on business, so I have nowhere nearly enough time to explore like I'd hope to. After reading through all these pages, I feel like I know a bit about the history of the area, without even living here. Sheer fascination with this city, it's just amazing.

My home may have 130,000, but it's essentially a boring farm town! There isn't nearly as much to explore as I'd like to, but after coming to the city this weekend, I'm certainly going to be hunting a lot harder. The Clayburn Brick/Vancouver Fireclay ruins are one of my own local favourites.

I've taken as many pictures as I can in the small amount of free time I've had, although I'm sure nothing is nearly as interesting as what some of the major posters here have found. When I get home, I'll post one of the pictures I'm interested in knowing more about. Not knowing where the Janion was exactly, it was pretty awesome when I looked out the window of Swans during dinner and had it just jump out in my mind. I was actually stoked to find this building I've read so much about here.

I would absolutely love to see the documentary that KublaKhan put together, if I ever have the chance. To see some of this amazing history from someone who has explored so much of it would be a real treat.

I feel the same way, there isn't very much to explore around here, but it doesn't stop me from digging around. I'm wondering if anyone here has been able to get into and look around the Odd Fellows building in Victoria? I keep trying but they won't let me, being just a girl and all, I'm not allowed in. I recently discovered that my great great grandfather was the Grand Master and laid the corner stone. He was also the fire chief for a short time, around when the cisterns went in.... I also had my hands on the plans for the new development going on at Market Square, but that was short lived didn't get a good look, because I couldn't read the plans fast enough.... sigh! So here's one more shot from the island. Cheers!

These pictures are taken from a site on the island that has been rezoned for Parcs. So far nothing really huge has been done to the site other then the houses are falling into disrepair, but they sure make for some fun exploring. even my little ones like to get in and dig through history. Love being able too tell them stories of when I was little and what the place looked like then.

^ Just be glad I was too sober to dance. Welcome SSI and B0wser, SSI if your Grandpa laid that stone, you've got major game with the Lodge. A couple of years ago at Open Doors their doors were open. A good op to check out the other (weirder) Lodges as well.

Sooooo.....I couldn't help but think about these bad karma things....
I've been underground, with lots more planned. To date, i haven't had to worry too too much about gas. But still, underground is underground, and I decided it's worth having a look at the geology of Victoria. My impression is that we're basically rock with a bit of clay and some spots of landfill. I'm not saying gas or oxygen depletion can't occur (H2S, anybody?), I'm just saying that reading about the geology is kind of interesting. I'm sure Tanuki is shaking his head at the simplemindedness of my thinking.
http://www.infiltr...ions-approach.html

This link provides some exceedingly good common sense info on how to test for air safety in a not-too-crazy-average storm drain, without gas meters (as you should only need gas meters if you are somewhere crazy and know what the hell you are doing).

On another thing, i found this map. What if there's an massive earthquake while you're exploring? The cross hatched is high risk liquefaction, the red and lines is medium risk. All colours, from light to dark, represent the magnitude of shaking. While i'm sure many buildings will collapse, most of the downtown is surprisingly not in danger of liquefaction, which is nice to know.

Somebody....pleease explore with me!
