well how about a new meet up of the explorers? maybe we all could learn something new and share some of the experience? I hear of quite a few places like the douglas darkie and such but I honestly dont have much time to search for them, I have a couple of kids and most of my time goes to them, but I have been able to devote tues nights to explore so even a couple of hints would be nice. Hitting up the Hall of Wonders tonight so if you want to meet me and my group come on down around 11ish, we are all friendly non aggressive explorers interested in the tunnels
maybe see you there?

JPeterman, our fearless leader, is typically the Man of Action on matters related to meetings. PM him and suggest a gathering at the office. He'll know what you mean.

Otherwise, you may have noted throughout the reading of the last 50 or 60 pages that many of the locations we have explored previously have been burned. This means these particular entrances are closed. Sealed. Shut off. They have been burned, and it's a sad, sad thing. The efforts made by the GCG in locating these entrances are...were...noble, and now those efforts have been undermined.

Which generally means that new details are not to be handed over easily.

My suggestion to you is to re-read the thread and extract vital information from the many pages of otherwise useless trivia. Trust me...whatever you need to know to gain entrance to some of the more exotic locations may be found here.

Let me know how it works out.

There's a very, very old building close to the water near Rock Bay that has a very interesting secret.

KK - I've spent some time looking into this. Haven't actually done a full-bore expedition, but I've wandered in during the day and talked to some guys who were working there. They wouldn't let me look around further. I also spent a great deal of time online looking for information (found some stuff but the pages on the CRD are gone now - weird). To be honest, I'm pretty sketched out by the security of the place. I don't exactly want to go hopping fences at 2:00am without knowing exactly what I'm looking for / what the consequences of getting caught are.

Side note: timbits and I decided to continue our explorations elsewhere and went to what he's dubbed the "dead center of town". We didn't spend very long down there, but it looked pretty rad.

EDIT: Geez, this discussion really took off while I wasn't paying attention...

Well om Tues the group and I explored the Douglas Darkie. It was pretty sweet. I forgot my camera though so no pics yet. My buddy did bring his video cam so we may be able to post some pics of that. We only went in to the second "opening" where the manholes were past the tunnel of doom. has anyone been down the smaller tunnels? the ones where you cant stand up? None of us were quite ready for that yet. It was cool how the tunnels went from cement to wooden. well next tuesday is another adventure and I will be sure to bring my camera. Have fun people

Hey all,

If you guys/gals end up getting a meeting happening. Myself and extremo would love to meet up with you guys.

Anyways, I'm uploading some of my photos that i took this summer to Flickr.... Let me know what you think. I tried to get to places that were talked about in the 105 pages. Their are a few photos of some of the mines that were talked about and even a few photos from some DND land that was talked about at some point. And you guessed it the same old same old photos of things like the Halls of Wonders and Douglas Darkie. Sorry i haven't added descriptions yet, maybe later tonight.

Great set!! I have been to most of those places....save the mines, and tressels. Seeing as I like mines and tressels, i will need to do so...the trip to Vic this fall is slowly coming together

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

My thoughts exactly.

We used to play street golf in (murfle), ontario, when I was a teenager. Of course, it could just be a Oak Bay electric car, being operated illegally in Victoria !

Nice photos of the DND installations, and of the Kinsol bridge. I know another forum which would probably like to see the ones of Kinsol, if they were taken this year? (Railfan.net, the E&N Forums)

If there is another showing of Under the Garden City after the end of the month, I would be interested in attending...have to be home before I can see it.

i just found this site and i was reading through the posts. it seems you guys (and gals) have some good stories and tales. if you guys want some good stuff to explore check out your local planning departmants OR BC hydro's NO DIG list for the Penninsula, especialy Brentwood Bay. the Military had a bunch of bunkers and underground supply depots littered on the Penn. not just James Isle.

Almost there! I should be rolling into town on Wed afternoonishesque. I got stuck on some smaller island with a bunch of dirty hippies, some of them seem mad at me for getting them too drunk last night.
