| | | Well, I am no longer a UE virgin. Monday after school I hooked up with some friends and we explored the impressive mine buildings. We started off in the two buildings on the side, one of which used to have a gigantic hook in it, but now there is only a smaller hook in the next room over. The insides were petty trashed, and every possible window broken. thieves took every piece of copper, and thank god all of the wiring had asbestos coating (maybe they will get the cancer they deserve). We did not have a flashlight with us unfortunately, so we had to use the flash on my friends camera to see in some areas. After that we jumped over to the power building, which is the gigantic stone building. Inside it was quite a sight, very spacious and many floors. You could see in the basement from the first floor due to holes in the floor...Also there where a bunch a large bags from what I suspect was the sad attempt at selling the ore as sandblasting material. I noticed a bunch of very stupid graffiti, most of which was on the top floor and on most of the floor supports. Sadly the cable on the elevator was cut, and is now wedged in between the first floor and the basement. There was a ladder leading to a catwalk, so we made our way up there and went through a hole in the wall to the staircase on the next level. We made our way to the top floor with nothing too amazing, then I made my way to the room on the very top where the elevator winch was anchored. The winch was unbolted from one side, but in seemingly good condition. We got a great view from the roof access, and pretty much every high level window on the building. After we were done up there we went into the basement, where we found a bunch of junk scattered about including a truck axle. The (what I guess is) boiler was located down there, very impressive. The hallways leading there were dark and in some spots covered in what I assume was tar. From there we went to the storage building on the other side fo the ore pile, and we were able to get in avery dilapidated building with yet another hook, but this one was able to move the length of the room. We played around with the amazing hook for a bit and left, but were met by some kids on bikes near my car. I have no clue what they wanted, btu they stared at us the entire time we were heading to my car. They disappeared shortly after. This was kind of scary for me, because from a greater distance I could not tell they were kids. That day I fought my fear of heights and getting caught, I will be going back with a flashlight in a few weeks.

| | | That looks like a cool place. Where is this? (Not exact, just ball park me with state/city) Oh, and you boys need to get some sun. Your faces look a little pasty.

| | | Next time you need a tripod and lights for sure and if you can avoid what I suspect is a horrible auto focus your shots will be much improved. And you and your friend sure are pale happy boys(?)

| | | Awesome location, I would love to see you go back and take some better pictures using a tripod, or at least plan out the pictures a little more. You have some decent ones in there, and you seem to have an eye for a decent picture. Welcome (back?) to the forum.

| | | I did not take most of the pictures, I pointed out what I wanted a picture of and my friend shot them. We will bring my tripod next time, and a few flashlights to see what we really missed (not to mention I will be doing the shots myself).
