Knife accident = No UE for a while :( < on 8/1/2007 11:14 PM > | Reply with Quote
The title says it all.
About 3 weeks ago I was cutting some rope with my new Gerber knife, extremely sharp (clip point for skinning animals) when my hand slipped and I cut right into my middle finger on my left hand. The cut went from the lower side to the top of the nail. It even went about 3.5mm into my nail. This really pissed me off because I use knives alot for fishing and stuff but I've never managed to injure myself like that. I got 8 stitches and I won't be able to go draining or climb fences for a couple of weeks, since I don't want to mess up my finger.
No trespassing for another week. But at the same time, maybe its a good thing? Who knows, if I hadn't cut myself, I would probably be stuck in a drain right now, running from CHUD's, rabid raccoons, and the homeless drunks...

I was sharpening a hunting knife one time and cut myself. 15 minutes after I finished I saw my fingers were bleeding; somehow I didn't notice when cut my fingertips off.

I cut myself on a large slot-head screwdriver when if was cleaning caked on stuff (grease, mud, and other things mixed together) off the underside of my 1981 pickup. I slipped and drove the screwdriver into my palm, I had to get 7 stiches and couldn't use my left properly hand for months.

I have a scar from my first pocketknife. I was a stupid kid.
Having a busted hand sucks though. A friend of mine (over the course of this fall and winter) has sliced his fingers half-off with a beer bottle, dropped a VW bus on those same fingers in a jack-accident, and then broken the thumb of that hand in a bike crash. Bummer.
