| | | So I've been in portland for nearly a year now and have hardly done any ue. Mostly because I've been working a lot and haven't had a great deal of time, but also because everything is different here and I just don't know what to look for. Anyone have any suggestions for a couple of daytrip locations? I'm particularly interested in old architecture, anything severely run down and being reclaim by nature. Thanks for any leads.

| | | Really cool old concrete structure off Hwy 30 next to the Williamette River, just NW of Portland. Unsure of the access. Just saw it one day while attending a cousins wedding. It sure is hard to miss from the hwy.

| | | Is that the one near the college? If it is, I think I've been to it, just didn't go inside because there were taggers there that day.

| | | I don't know where the college is, sorry. It's very detailed architecturally, but it's all cast concrete, I think. It looked very secured and was behind a chainlink fence. my wife was fascinated by it because it looked like an old school building.

| | | If you're talking about the building on Hwy 30 right next to the St. John's bridge, that's the Portland Gasworks. It's on Army Corps of Engineers property and has a 24 hour guard in a shack right next to the building. It's also a Superfund site and is badly contaminated, inside and out. You can get in, but it's not easy. It's definitely one of the coolest looking buildings I've ever seen.
