Exactly right with what of the car there was to see and now we know even more. There are some smart people around, I tellya. And having a big V8 in it explains why someone went to the effort of removing it from the car.

| | | Nice pic. I love looking at cars in that state of decay. I understand San Juan Island has some abandoned vehicles, one which is a 60' Rambler wagon in the same condition as the one in this pic. We don't get the heavy moss out here on abandoned wrecks, but it sure gives it a surreal look.
When I lived in Northern CA for a short time, I noticed that old cars were used as "rip rap" along the Sacramento river in many spots. The landowners removed the hoods and planted fast growing trees under the engine compartments to help secure them, along with chains.

| | | Hey, glad you managed to make a thread out of that reck of a car. I said this earlier but there supposedly is a truck around that car somewhere I am still looking for it.. Once again I apologize for the rough trip through the forest. I love the bright red interior thats my favorite detail on that car. Also it looked like someone removed the rear seat because when I went inside there was nothing left of it.

Up a mining road on Ester Dome in Fairbanks. It was pushed off the side and had some trees growing around it, not sure how long it had been there. You can get surplus military vehicles pretty cheaply in Alaska, the average person doesnt want them and theres not enough of a market for surplus dealers. When they die or you cant afford to pay for parts (or fuel!) the proper redneck thing to do is drive it into the woods and abandon it. If youre really a redneck you take it to the flood control dikes and blow it up while shooting holes in it... I also see DUCKWs a lot, usually in backyards. One guy was turning his into an amphibious houseboat - motorhome!

| | | Hey guys, I emailed Junix a while back, we talked for a bit, saw some stuff. He's gotten me lost in the flour mill. Seems like a decent guy.

But he wouldn't talk about uer, just said he wasn't welcome here. When I click to see why he was banned I cant see it, in spite of the text saying to look. Then it says he has 300+ posts but I only see 40. So.. anyone been exploring with him? Do you guys know something about him I don't but should? He threatened uer somehow? And what exactly is required to be a 'full member'?

| | | FREAK the CAT dozer is an old one. Notice the boom, it used a winch and cable to raise and lower the blade. I honestly don't know what to tell you about the sand crawler. It has big cables and was used to pull something. It appears to have started life as a mining drag line. I think the structure was built on to protect the operators in case a cable snapped.

| | | First one reminds me of a small ranch house that I used to live by. The second had all of these stored in their tiny garage and backyard. The owner was an avid collector of tractor engines and old antique cars and pickups. He practically let them sit there until he passed away. Then his son came in and sold them or donated them for next to nothing. And I couldn't say a word (was too young to drive then). -- Memories. They now sell in that condition for a starting price of $800 to a fully restored price of $26,000+. If they want to get rid of them, take one while you can. They're easy to restore and easy to drive. I know. I studied 1937 Ford trucks for over 12 years (inside & out), before I switched to military vehicles. -RailGuy88

That's actually how I came by my car. A bunch of old heaps lined up in a chicken barn. There was dirt and hay and poop covering EVERYTHING. Wrinkled, toothless old man who owned the place was selling em off. There were tons of cool mobiles in that barn. Got it home, washed it off, waxed it about a million times, and presto!
Even more humorous was the field of Chevy Corviars out behind the barn. The guy had about 150 of them, all nearly weathered to rust by the elements. He tried to sell me some. Said I could have two for fifty bucks. I passed on the offer.
