Hi. I'm new. I haven't explored too much, but I'm interested in getting to explore more often. I usually explore with my mom, who is very into UE. She's the one who got me started.
I'm going to be checking out an abandoned hospital tomorrow (if the rain clears up). We're really excited about going, and I'm sure my mom will take some nice pictures. Anyway, hello

Hey-lo.

Just gonna say the usual stuff..I'm 16, I live in Essex County, NJ. Been into UE for a couple months now. Love it to death. Haven't really gotten to explore much lately, though, due to lack of money for gas.
I usually explore with my girlfriend, and maybe a couple friends, armed with flashlights, a camera, and a Leatherman. And, yeah.. just lookin' to make some new friends, maybe some exploring buddies.

Hallo.

New member here. I'm h1596, but you can just refer to me as H for simplicity. I'm fourteen years old and I live in the "Great Northwest". Since I was a very young child I was always the girl with the adventurous streak. I was always the one who got my cousins and I into all sorts of whacky adventures and trouble. If there was a "scary" place or weird spot in the neighborhood, it'd be me who would rally my cousins, as well as whoever they might have had tagging along with them, to go check it out. Heck, my nickname was Simba (elephant graveyard, anyone?)! Anyhow, I haven't changed all that much.

I love exploration and adventure. Urban Exploration is relatively new turf for me, as my forte has always been general Outdoor Recreation. So far the only UE I've done was the small basement of a huge, old house that was demolished up the street. It wasn't anything that fantastic, being very small, but it was exciting, the creeping down the stairs (not the the neighbors would have minded at all-kids build snowmen and igloos on top of the basement in the winter) and standing in the silence of the musty old room.

I hope to learn as much as I possibly can about this hobby. I have a camera a distant relative gave me a while back, I just don't know how to use it. We've been meaning to take it to a camera shop and ask for help. Until then I'll probably just putter around, read and respond to topics, use the search button, and maybe even start a topic of my own.

I plan to put the book "Access All Areas" on hold as soon as I can cut some fines out of the way at the library. It looks like a fantastic book, and from the reviews it's had it most certainly is an indispensable resource.

Hope to see you around the site!

-h1596

Hi, I am new to the forums and urban exploration. I moved from New Mexico to Buffalo, New York and stumbled upon this hobby by accident. A curious person, I have always been interested in exploring places, but I am most accustomed to mountain wilderness areas, which require no trespassing to enter. Although I now live far away from the open lands out West, I still cannot control my urge to discover interesting places, so I have taken to exploring old man-made structures, because it is more accessable to me than wilderness areas.

Every day on my way to and from work I can see the derelict grain elevators only a couple blocks away in the First Ward area of Buffalo. Being a die-hard nature person, I initially found these structures to be among the most ghastly things I had ever seen and I felt a feeling of dread upon looking at them. I desperately wished I could return to the mountains I love in New Mexico and forget I had ever seen the First Ward. It took many months for me to warm up to the grain elevators. In order to make peace with my new and unfamiliar surroundings I needed to take several therapeutic walks through the area with my camera in hand, and force myself to find beauty in this otherwise dismal place.

The First Ward is the first thing that got me thinking about urban exploration, but it took me reading an article on the deteriorating German Roman Catholic Orphanage in Buffalo, published in Artvoice and attending Ghost Train at Buffalo Central Terminal to really ignite my new passion for urban exploration. Now I have entered this incredible world, from which I cannot leave.

Im new to this board but have been looking at you're underground pictures for over a 5 year period and find them interesting and awsome. Myself being in a wheelchair can't possibly get out there and explore like you people but I enjoy you're experences from home and love it so I have to thank you all for making this available to all. I know there has been a film done in Toronto by the waterfront called Saw. They have also made Saw 2/3/ and 4 in Toronto. Would anyone of you have studio pictures or location pictures of the filming? I would be greatly appreciated otherwise I will continue enjoying exploring pictures you people take.
Thanks again.

Hey everyone,

I had no idea a site like this was in existence. I've always been fascinated with supernatural beings and happenings and love to hear my friends' stories involving such experiences.
I enjoy watching television shows that share the history behind the hauntings of some buildings and areas. Although I've heard that their information is sometimes skewed, I still like to watch Creepy Canada.
If there are any places that you would recommend I visit (preferably in Ontario), I would love to hear about them. I've been to the Screaming Tunnel and am planning of visiting the Blue Ghost Tunnel in the near future.
Thanks for the warm welcome into the site

alright, well I've been a lurker on this site for probably 2 to 3 years now and finally decided to join. I'm not a super experienced UEr but being from Cleveland gives me pleny of opportunity. I'm in it for the photos as well as just the adventure, i've been an urbanite since I was old enough to drive. Used to drive my old POS car around Cleveland's east side just exploring the neighborhoods and such. On the rare ocassion I can scrounge up a partner we just drive around until we can find someplace. Thanks for the warm welcome guys

Greetings, I had read over this site for some time and decided to join up. Looks like a fun place to swap info and stories. I live in the deep south, Alabama to be exact and we have a fair share of stuff to explore here. Lots of old home sites out in the middle of nowhere are my specialty although I've be in some factories and other commercial locations. I have always worked alone but if anyone in the central part of the state is out there maybe we could get aquainted and go exploring. Have a great day.

Hey everyone!

I'm a French explorer, mostly dedicated in visiting rooftops. I began when I was 8 years old!

I'm doing UE within mines, castle, metro (abandoned stations and tunnels), work area, cranes, rooftops (cathedral, church, castle, official buildings,...). Parisian underground (catacombs, technical gallery, sewer) are really fascinating!

I'm living downtown Paris (close to catacombs network).

In Paris, I've been on following rooftops (most famous):
* Opéra Garnier
* Grand Palais
* Eiffel tower (easy!)
* Notre Dame Cathedral
* St Sulpice
* St Eustache

See you,

Martinlbb

I never really introduced myself did I? I'm Hirnduebel, sometimes known as Flo, unfortunately from Germany and I make videos before everything else... or well, before most things. I like Duebels.

But there's two different kinds. There's bad asbestos, and there's nice asbestos. Anyway, it grows on you.

Ello, it be Benny Bear... thats what my little brother calls me because I am 6'4" and I used to growl at him to scare him. Personal eh? I have been doing similar activities to urban exploration since forever, but I never knew it as urban exploration until a week ago. Loads 'o' fun, hope to see y'all out there!!
lol

The 'sploration I used to do was basically in castles; I used to live in Germany, and I would explore the hell out of them while I was there. Not so many castles here though... I also like abandoned military bases. That's legal right?
